No one with a heart would blame them.

I really hate how there seems to be this U.S soldier mentality that the world is their oyster. They're really embarrasing America (along with that idiot Bush) madgo.gif

Eh I shouldn't say ALL soldiers its usually in the army and marines. Not Coast Guard, Navy, or National Guard. I never cared to much for the Air Force so I dont know but probably not alot in there either.

The USAF and the U.S. navy have been going crazy in japan as well. You never heard the story about the boat full of japanese kids that was destroyed by the U.S. submarine?

I never cared for the u.s. occupation forces period. However The majority do not commit crimes. However a VERY significant portion do. There is usually a crazy crime every two weeks. The crimes vary from odd-disgusting.

...damn I didnt hear about that. I guess with this whole Iraq thing going on they dont talk to much about anything else. If you have a link to that story or posted about it in an earlier forum I'd like to read about it.
Ogumo
I'll post the story for you.
barkerintokyo
Yeah, the ehimemaru, if I remember correctly. Some kids were whale watching for a class trip near Hawaii or something when an American captain was drunk driving a submarine. They submerged right underneath the children's boat and sunk the ship.

I've heard of US marines who stayed in those bases commit crimes in Japan.

There was one story about rape. It was a long time ago and I have forgotten the details. Maybe it's the sexually assaulted case on June the 26th.

But I am a little suprise of such bizzare crimes do happen in Japan.

I wonder how the prerpetrators are dealed with in those bases.

It seems that the officers do not impose a high sentence on those who are guilty by

the looks of the crimes that the marines had commited.
barkerintokyo
Usually, the soliders get diplomatic immunity. They don't get punished for their crimes basically.

That'll keep the Japanese government busy from trying to go after foreigners who stay in Japan after their visa expires, even if it's just a day. They were arrested and ban from Japan for 5 years.

You might want to add that in to your list...

Wants wrong with going after people who commit a crime? I don't see anything wrong with that. Illegal immigrants have much higher potential of committing crimes too. They cannot be traced because there is no evidence of their stay in the country.

The point is that Ogumo and many other concerned citizens of beautiful Okinawa want the Americans removed. He is referencing the fact that they cause more grief than good and loathes the fact that they are tried in military tribunal and that the victims never get recompense or justice.

Illegal immigrants are not the issue. Everyone wants them out. Just by being illegal immigrants their morals are already suspect. Troops however, are representative of a country's morals, and are often seen as a nation's finest. With such events happening in Okinawa, it is not unreasonable for people to resent the American military as a whole.
barkerintokyo
Chinese are mad at us because we want the illegal immigrants out as well as the Americans are mad at us because we want them out.

I fear the Chinese more than the Americans because the Chinese are a threat to people who live in Tokyo and they cause crime in much larger numbers than the Americans.
Rad Raz
You mean the American GI's and marines?

Why would China be angry at Japan's inclination to deport illegal immigrants? Its not like China put them there.

What is with you and the chinese? Alright I can understand that you are upset at the chinese criminals that live their and kill japanese people. Fine. However I feel that the american military men that live their are MUCH more dangerous. These men have been trained to kill and are prone to drunken violence. Not to mention it is not chinese people that are killing japanese kids in submarines or are receiving special treatment from the government. You set your priority in what ever way you want.
