First VN baby born from frozen ovum and sperm
15:49' 02/06/2004 (GMT+7)
Tu Du Hospital in HCM City on May 31 announced Vietnam’s first baby conceived with frozen ovum and sperm was born on May 24.

The baby weights 3.1kg and in good health.
The 3.1kg bouncing baby boy was conceived in vitro for a 32-year-old HCM City woman.

The mother’s ova were collected on August 4, 2003, but her husband was unavailable for doctors to collect sperm that same day. Therefore 10 of the ovum were frozen, and the husband’s sperm, collected at a later date, was also frozen.

On September 15, doctors thawed the ovum and sperm for an intracytoplasmic sperm injection procedure (ICSI) and four of them developed into embryos.

One of which was chosen for in utero placement, producing a healthy foetus.

In 2001 the world had first baby born from frozen ovum, according to Tu Du Hospital staff. They said the number of women around the world conceiving from frozen ovum has not yet reached 100.

Tu Du Hospital is storing the ovum of five women.

Now you've done it. embarassedlaugh.gif

But that's not going to happen Hy and Trang. I am so against the cloing of human beings and living things, even if it's a plant. We're just playing God, and he's not going to like it.

But the topic... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Oh, I am sorry baby. I'll try to understand more, but erh... I can't accept the fact the people should clone human beings or a baby being born out of a tube or some other stuffs that's un-natural. People will do all kinds of things to advance, and once they get too advanced, they're going to ignore God. And when that doesn't work, God's going to let them die without helping them.

I am not online because I am using my brother's computer.

it's not fair how some couple can't have children, so u help them, that's god fault 4 not givin them children 2 begin w/.. n we were (at least i was) joking about cloning babies.. 'cuz no parents would allow ppl 2 clones their child..

Yah, I know you guys were joking. Hehehe... icon_wink.gif

But the fact that babies are born in vitros scare me. <<<shrug>>> Just look at it, it's so un-natural, and I don't like it one bit.

And they closed my Picture thread! madgo.gif bawling.gif

I was joking about the cloning but it wouldn't bother me if this option is readily available in the near future. As for religion, I cannot link the two together. If I am perfectly comfortable accepting homosapiens' link to primate-like creatures while still believe in God, cloning shouldn't be too bad.

And yes, this is a reliable source of news. The BBC would have too much to cover if every country's little achievement is to be reported. embarassedlaugh.gif

There's a man in the midst of a pregnancy now too, so hehehe, my future husband might have to wrestle with that decision. eek.gif
