Vietnamese Chinese Real name
Tay Ban Nha- Xibana - Espana
Nga- A - Russia
My Quoc- Mei- America
Thai Lan- Tai lan- Thailand
Trieu Tien, Dai Han is directly translated from Korean Choson and Daehan
Na- uy- Na or No wei - Norway
Duc- De - Duestchland (that's what german call germany).

Not Chinese translation
However, Hoaky (America) is only used in Vietnam.
Most of the unpopular countries are later added.

Na- uy- Na or No wei - Norway
Duc- De - Duestchland (that's what german call germany).

Some of them are wrong.

Spain in Chinese is Xibanya, not "Xibana".

Russia is Eluosi, or Eguo.

U.S. is Meiguo. No one ever calls it simply "Mei".

Thailand is Taiguo. No one calls it "Tailan" as "land" in Thailand was added later. "Land" isn't even a Thai word embarassedlaugh.gif

North Korea is Chaoxian (Chosen in Korean) South Korea is Nan Han (Nam Han in Korean) or Hanguo. Sometimes South Koreans call their country "Dae Han Min Guk" (Da Han Min Guo) but that is rarely used in Chinese, if ever.

Norway is Nuowei, close enough, just misspelled it.

Germany is Deguo, no one calls it simply "De". As far as I know, only Vietnamese refer to others with single syllable words, Chinese usually don't. We find it rude.

DAI_VIET
Bah! I'd prefer the English names over Vietnamese names.

If someone said "Tich Lan," I can guarantee that the majority of the people wouldn't even know where or what that is. However, if it's "Sri Lanka," then yeah, it's an island nation south of India.

Stick with the English names is much better, there's no need to make the names up just so it has Vietnamese names.

malaccan
For Malaysia, Ma Lai A sounds very much like its old name Malaya, before it joined Singapore, Sabah and Sarawak to form Malaysia. The old name seems to have stuck. Oh well, never mind! biggrin.gif
