I think there was a reference somewhere saying Chinese generals allowed the vietnamese soldiers to come take their dead back to Vietnam under the conditions that they carry a white flag and no arms. They didn't comply and the Chinese soldiers blast the troops who came with no white flag with rifles. About 100 died in the slaughter. Eventually, the Chinese army had to burn the vietnamese dead bodies cuz it was stinking the place up.
