What the fu-k? This is painfully funny.

The graduation uniforms are very unique, very colorful. icon_smile.gif

The Ly, Tran, Le dynasties were all heavily influenced by the Chinese culture, but they are praised as the patriotic dynisties. Being Sinicized is not a bad thing, at least (perhaps few of you know that) the Vietnamese identity as we have now could not be formed without Sinicization (see the Nungs and the Zhuangs, which are also from the ancient Lac Viet, but could not build up their national identity because of too much less Chinese influence compared to the Vietnamese). Besides, wearing a dress based on Ming scholar costum is not worse than wearing a Western graduation uniform. I myself dislike those Ming costumes, but I don't think they are humiliating at all.

Of course the Vietnamese can design new graduation uniform based on traditional scholar costumes. But let me ask one question: When the Tien Si under the Le dynasty called to the royal court for royal audience, what did they wear if not mandarin's clothes based on Ming dynasty's mandarin costumes?

The ethnic Muong and Man of Vietnam were not influenced by the Chinese but they founded 3 dynasties of Vietnam.

The ancient Lac Viet people do not include the Zhuang or Nung. The true ancient Lac Viet people that is closely related to the Vietnamese are the Muong or the Man of Vietnam.

Entirely agree with you. In some colleges in VN, graduates wear a anglo-saxon like black graduation robe and cap which makes me laugh to dead.

here's a kind of graduation uniform embarassedlaugh.gif .

I hate the cap and gown outfit, which is what the learned jackass academicians of the Middle Ages used to wear. Unfortunately, my late mother used to force me to go to each graduation ceremony, so that she could take pictures and proudly say: "My son!", with this idiot clothes on me.

Welcome to Switzerland, there is no ridiculous cap and gown to wear over here.

I feel that those costumes not only are outdated, but funny as hell. Why don't they make it simple by having the girls wear ao dai and the boys wear blue pants with white shirts and ties, all in uniform colors.

ha ha. I skipped my high school graduation ceremony and will most likely skip both of my college graduation ceremonies.
