Man, imagine if VN has high-speed metro train system, or subway metro train system, wouldn't that be nice? Then, all of these scooters wouldn't clog the streets anymore. Of course, Vietnamese people also have to be responsible and utilize those public transportation, for the clog problem to go away.

I can't really wait for VN to have a subway metro train system. CSVN keeps talking and planning over the past 5+ years, nothing has been done. So frustrating. I hope by the time I am back on Saigon streets, I would be actually riding on the subway metro train system.

Man, imagine if the US has more high-speed metro train system, or subway metro train system, wouldn't that be nice? Then, all of these gas-guzzling SUVs wouldn't clog the freeways anymore. Of course, American people also have to be responsible and utilize those public transportation, for the clog problem to go away.

I'm sure once VN has built a "subway metro train system", they would inform you and bring out the red carpet to welcome your Highness.
Happy Asian

Man, I can see you're part of those hard-core CSVN heads that resist changes for the better. You guys are the reasons why Vietnam is being pulled back with slow progresses and backwardness thumbsdown.gif You guys are full of confusions and conflicting interests. Half of your brain says, "I don't believe in capitalism, xe dda.p va` xi'ch lo^ muo^n na(m", yet the other half says, "let's befriend with the US, the capitalist center of the world, because it's an important trade partner to keep the export engine going". confused.gif

Don't just argue, just for the sake of arguing. Argue for the sake of learning the problems/issues, and potential solutions as well.

I don't ask for a red carpet, but I do feel I would be offered one even years from now embarassedlaugh.gif Check this out, "Government lauds Vietnamese expatriates' role in national development"

Overseas Vietnamese will always be special guests to CSVN, for years to come, regardless of hard-core people like you like it or not embarassedlaugh.gif This is one of the smart decisions being made by more open-minded, forward-looking CSVN leaders. My hat off to these smart CSVN leaders who are and will be making important reforms for the better of Vietnam.

Yeah it was my first time ever to visit Vietnam. Made me look differently at my heritage. Which in my case mean that i went from totally no interest in Vietnam at all or having anything to do with Vietnam or the vietnamese people, to trying to find out more about where my roots were. Found the forum because of that. Hehehe. And ofcourse i made pictures of the trip. Some are already posted here:

But here are a few pic of Ho Chi Minh City, also known as Saigon...

The street in front of Cho Ben Thanh. The market is one of the biggest
markets in the city where everything can be found. A lot of tourist
visit the market. So you probably need to do some tough haggling to
just get anywhere near the normal prices.

An old locomotive put on display at the HCM City railway station.

In HCM City's chinatown (district 5) you'll find Cho Lon. Like Ben
Thanh Market, it's full of just about anything that you would need
for the modern Vietnamese life. However, the prices are generally
cheaper than Ben Thanh. And some girls here are just too shy to
have their picture taken. ^^'

IPB Image

Small crowded streets in Saigon are filled with live. Sometime
it's a wonder that anything can move at all.

IPB Image

Looking out of the window at the Museum of Ho Chi Minh City you can
see why it's garden is such a popular place for wedding pitures. ^^

IPB Image

When choosing the right moments, Saigon's streets aren't that bad.
One thing is the same though, the many shops that populate the
streets. That's just the outcome of Saigon entrepeneurship.

End of the little tour. biggrin.gif Might put some more pics of my travel on the other thread. ^^

Very nice pictures, Bebob. Thx for sharing. Don't ever loose your roots! Even a small drop of Vietnamese blood in you, and generations down, you are "Con Ro^`ng Cha'u Tie^n" forever. Damn, you make me miss motherland too much.
