Sugarcane farmers are hoping to produce 15 tonnes of sugarcane/ha next crop when they use a newly-manufactured sugarcane growing machine, named MTM-2, the first of its kind in Viet Nam.
The machine, made by the Agricultrual Machine and Energy Centre under the HCM City Agro-Forestry University, was tested on 13 hectares of sugarcane in southern Tay Ninh province. The initial results were a 40-percent reduction in production costs and a 77-percent decline in labour costs.
MTM-2 was successfully manufactured last year.
