A world-class fighter, martial artist and three time world champion who is still in his prime at 30 years old, Cung Le has made a tremendous impact on martial arts. His popularity as a fighter has brought San Shou Kung Fu to the forefront of the fight world and is catapulting Le into the main stream.

Most recently Le was featured in Inside Kung-Fu Magazine October 2002 issue. Le has also made appearances on the covers of several of the most renowned martial arts publications in the world, including Black Belt Magazine, Inside Kung Fu and Martial Arts Illustrated. A testament to his high status in Asia, an article on Le was also published in the Japanese version of Black Belt Magazine, the Bible of Martial Arts. Le has also captivated his audience with appearances on ESPN2 StrikeForce events as well as Pay-Per-View ‘s such as the DRAKA Championships and Shidokan, The Triathlon of Martial Arts.

In possession of over 35 major awards, Le served as the U.S. Team Captain at the World Martial Arts Championships in Italy in 1997 and Hong Kong in 1999, maintains a record of 38-2, with 26 wins by knockout. With Sanshou's fast paced style where unlike boxing, a fighter is penalized for non- engagement or resting, Le is an ominous presence with the ability to knock someone out with both hands and as well as both feet.

The subject of a documentary that chronicles his life "Cung Le, The Making of a Champion", begins with Le as a child in Vietnam, follows him as a wrestler in college and takes you ringside for his many hard fought victories. The film also takes you behind the scenes to see the type of grueling training that makes a champion. This film set to be judged at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival. Also this year, Le was the featured guest for The Discovery Channel documentary titled "On the Inside: Martial Arts."

In 1998, Le's UsH! fight team brought home four gold and two silver medals from the Sanshou Nationals, in Baltimore, MD. Le has since opened a second school in Santa Clara and has expanded to a larger San Jose location at the end of last year to accommodate the growing number of students. Le is also the guiding force behind popular line of sports attire and accessories, UsH! Gear which is sold direct, through retailers and online. Cung Le is awesome. I wish I could see him in MMA - he could easily be a dominant force in his weight class...

Well, he has a few years to go ( before he reaches 40) just a thought

His best years are behind him. I saw him on his last fight. I could see that he was no longer at the height of his power.

In the China vs USA tournament in Hawaii five years ago, the Chinese purposely set him up against the undefeated Mongolian fighter Nashun Gerile - a terror with 82 previous victories. They thought Gerile would kill Cung Le, an unknown Vietnamese American fighter who was just starting out.

Well, as usual, the Chinese underestimated the clever little Vietnamese guy for Cung Le brilliantly exploited Gerile's brute strength and advantage in height by a series of devastating uppercuts to the chin and knee strikes at the lower body at close range. When Gerile began to run out of juice in the 3rd round, Cung Le used his powerful signature scissor kick on the Mongolian King, sending him down the canvas. Gerile would not get up after that.

Yea, Cung Le is awesome.

I remember, about 9 years ago, I used to go to the same martial arts school with him in San Jose. I was only 13-14, and I remember wanting to be like him, I looked up to him and wanted to try harder because I envied his determination, strength, and skills. I moved to Florida a year later and always wondered what happened to him. He's the man though beerchug.gif
