I wonder have you guys realized this. I have noticing there were 2 types of Viet. The viet who look like Chinese are the ones very educated, stay out of trouble and very tradition, they looked very high class. These guys I see they usually hang out with east Asian or white, while the other one who look like Cambodian like vietgrl408 for instance who is gangs wannabes, these guys/girls are not educated, committed crimes and they’re usually hang out with SEA. Every time I go clubbing I always see them pick fights with other race. What do you think about these kinds of guys? Do you like to hang out with them? Do you think they give you guys a bad image?

Yes there are good and bad people in every race. And yes I do get ashamed of them sometimes. Certain gangster-wannabe Viets and Viet drug smugglers do give the whole Vietnamese community here in Australia a very bad name.

On the other hand, many Vietnamese have excelled socially and academically in Australia as well. The balance is on the positive side.

Yes I agree. There is no such thing as a Viet who looks Viet. Take China for example, I've seen white Han Chinese and bloody tanned Han Chinese. That's what you call diversity. Same thing goes for Thais, Cambodians etc

I don't know the difference between light skin vietnamese and dark skin vietnamese. I know most countries such as china,korea, japan consider that having light skin are rich, healthy, well educated family. And ones that are dark are ones that has no education because they have to work and are less fortunate. It just portrays that way.
To me, it's all the same. Besides, aren't viet families strict with education so aren't nearly all vietnamese educated????

Yes Vietnamese are highly educated. We have a literacy rate that is among the highest in the whole of Asia and the world. Great feat for a third world country recovering from the ravages of wars.

Actually, I know a number of Vietnamese people who are lighter skinned.. and believe me, they aren't highly aren't the high class type people, they are cause a lot of trouble and a lot of people hate them... with good reason.

Anyone cares to explain to me how GPA works?

In Australia it is the UAI (University Admission Index) and it is out of 100. The people who get 99-100 are the top one percent, 98-100 are the top 2 percent and so on. I scored 94 for my UAI, which is around the top 6%. Would 3.47 GPA be higher than this?

3.75 basically could get you in almost all the unversities here except for the ivy league one..u need more than just gpa in hs to get in there...but that is besides the point...back to topic..i noticed there are 3 types of viets...there are the chinese looking one..there are the viet looking one..and there are the cham/khmer looking one...i went back to vietnam 5 months ago..i noticed as you go upward in the country..the skin color of the people changes...in saigon..most of the people there have light skin but with a shade to it..i saw a few cambodians here and there..as for i can spot them from a mile away..only in they daytime of course...as you go toward hanoi..their skin has a sort of pink pinkment to it..very light but has pinkish pinkment..i noticed that with the majority of the people in the north...as for the vietnamese that want to be gangstas..it is all good..if that is the path they want to take..but i have been to LA on many occasions..i have seen bunch of gangstas looking people..from korean to vietnamese..but whenever i go to the clubs..i noticed the people that looks thuggish the most are the dark one..i am assuming they are cambodians...ok i am rambling on hehe

In your case, a 3.47 GPA would translate to 73.7%.

In most cases, an A=4.0, A-=3.67, B+=3.33, B=3.0....blah blah....
There are GPA systems that are out of 5 as well, but the ones out of 4 are most often used.

The U.S. uses this system more often than anybody else. The only Canadian students that use this particular GPA are those applying to med, law or any other graduate school.
