True story that happened to me yesterday on May 19, 06. I was swimming at the beach with my friend and we didnt know what rip currents were before this or hadn't thought about it at the time. Well as we were swimming, we started to go farther and went deeper, as soon as you know it, the water was pulling us in deeper and wave after wave kept going over our heads. I was beginning to panic because i could not swim and was being pulled deeper. Thats when I tried to ask my friend for help but risking his life to save me was something I knew was a danger to him the most. I thought about dying at that instant and started to give up fighting for life. I began to yell for help and my sister who was watching from a distance started screaming and calling for help also. IT WAS lucky that a Vietnamese surfer was nearby. He came to my rescue and lifted me up on his surf board. That is why I have changed my views up until now on people in general, I no longer hold any grudge on any Vietnamese person no longer. No matter the political or general circumstance, my views have changed. Thank You.....for saving me and my friends life. I owe an apology to the Vietnamese people on this forum that I have bashed or instigated any threat. I want to warn others who goto the beach about rip currents too. If you ever decide to swim at a beach, swim near the post of a lifeguard who is on duty. If you happen to get caught in a rip current, remember to stay calm and swim the same direction as the shore, parallel to the direction of the rip current.
I am also a Cambodian, I acknowledge that our two people do not get along. However, I wish for this to change, for a better future and a brighter South East Asia.
Long live Vietnam and Cambodia in peaceful cooperation.
My life flashed before my eyes yesterday, and I have learned a great deal.
Thank You my Viet brothers and sisters.
