No he won't, kickboxers are too one-dimensional to dominate MMA. He'd get PWNED unless he finds a way to adapt outside of kicking and striking.

Cung Le used to be a California state champion wrestler when he was in high school, so he can do a few things outside of kicking and striking.

Can't wait to see his next fight in MMA. Its be interesting to see how he fight on the ground. Since he got great take down techniques, he can take the guy down quick and kick him of the head = done! biggthumpup.gif

Does anyone have the video clip of the match between him and that Mongolian guy?

btw, Cung Le’s record is 36-2, with 26 knockouts; which are those 2 defeats?
VOTAMVOTU
proffesionally he never lost a match

Yeah, can't find the match with the Mongolian guy he beat !!
neinei
this fight is actually an exhibition stage fight, it is not a real one, that guy he beats is actually one of his student

^no wonder, i was gonna say.. because that fight was so one-sided;i doubt any professional would let another fighter throw them around like that without doing anything. I'd like to see Cung Le go against someone else, i doubt he'd have it that easy.

exactly. Just because you don't see him grapple, doesn't mean he's a b!tch at it.

that's not the point, what I meant was that his primary style of fighting is san shou kickboxing. AS athletic as that style of fighting is, it is way too one-dimensional to dominate MMA. MMA fighters are used to the whole package: Striking, kickboxing, grappling, ground and pounding, submissions, etc. Cung Le is undoubtedly the best at what he does, but in MMA, it's a completely different ballgame. I'm not saying he will do bad or wish him bad luck (in fact I wish him the best success), but like I said earlier in other post, unless he does find a way to adapt to MMA fighting, he will get PWNED. He cannot simply rely on his SS kickboxing skills against fighters like Ortiz, Liddell, Jackson, Cro Cop, Wanderlei, Nog, etc. All it would take is one simple takedown and GNP and then it's over.

i believe he is a purple belt in bjj, i am pretty sure his takedown skills are pretty good since he was a state champ wrestler in highschool, as for fighting wanderlei, liddell, jackson, cro cop, and nog, they are in a totally different weight class, cung le will be mostly fighting in the 185 pounds area, so he will mostly face the like of Rich Franklin, Henderson, Minowa, Bustamante, Baronio, Ninja, and Filho
