Why do they choose the lotus as the logo and what's the meaning behind it ?
Happy Asian
It certainly give VietNam's national carrier a great look.
landsknechts
Do you guys notice how they spell the word "Vietnam"? It should be spelt "Viet Nam" instead; with the words "Viet" and "Nam" separately and the capitalization of the letter "N".
Happy Asian
^I notice that too, if its up to me I would make sure the whole thing is written in tieng Viet.
supernovasp
the service still needs to be improved though

But that's how Vietnam is in English - since "Vietnam Airlines" is an English term. If the term is in Vietnamese, then it would be different, like "Hàng Không Việt Nam".

it's vietnam's national flower. it's beautiful and graceful despite the surrounding stinking mud... derive its meaning as your heart desires

i fail to see the resemblance, but like u said, looking like a lady's thingy isn't necessarily a bad thing, i bet many beauty conscious ladies would love to have such symmetry

LOL yeah, the asian airlines use young, beautiful girls as stewardesses. I saw cute stewardesses on EVA airlines, and Vietnam airlines. The prettiest stewardess I saw was on EVA airlines on my Saigon-Tapei leg, a tall hanoian girl who had a beautiful accent and smile.... oh man.. love2.gif

Last summer, I flew from Saigon to Hue and Hanoi, and yes those stewardesses were tall, elogant, and a sight for sore eyes.

khaviet, the bad English didn't bother me since I speak Vietnamese like a native. Beside, I have spotted some attendants from other Asian airlines speaking very bad English too. What bothered me about the attendants on Vietnam Airlines was their level of professionalism and skills as flight attendants. Theirs are still way below standard if you judge from the services provided by Korean Air, Eva or China Airlines... And they have to get rid of that Ao Dai, it wasn't designed for working on narrow aircrafts. Though I was pleased to fly brand new Boeing 777s from Vietnam Airlines.

Just compare with our neighbour Thailand, their Thai Air service is much better than VNA.

Hmm anyway the flight attendants of VNA get more skillful than 20 years ago (of course) and i hope it will get even better in the future. Plus I like the symbol, dark blue font with a golden lotus, that looks really impressive.

Vietnam Airlines is owned by the commies. Fly on it only if you support communism. If you are a freedom loving person, use a bicycle or taxi when you have to travel in vietnam. embarassedlaugh.gif
Tav6
yay the commies have my full support ... i love u commies ... lol
Cookielover
The girls didn't smile alot (if any) and didn't bother to ask the passengers if they'd need something except for meal times. The service is pathetic compared to Singapore Airlines. Gotta improve.
