Cambodian King: Cambodia Benefits from Friendship with China The friendship between Cambodia and China has withstood the tests of time in the 45 years of untroubled diplomatic ties, Cambodia's King Norodom Sihanouk said in an exclusive interview with China's Xinhua News Agency.

"The friendship has benefited my country and the Cambodian people," he said before he leaves here for home on Monday after his medical examination.
While Cambodia was ravaged by years of war, Chinese leaders and people provided immeasurable and unconditional help, he said, including helping Cambodians to defend themselves against foreign aggression, win their liberation and promote industrialization.

The king recalled the late Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai's visit to Cambodia, when crowds of people lined the roads from the airport to Phnom Penh to greet him.
"Although at that time, diplomatic ties between the two countries had not been forged, the Cambodian people extended the warmest welcome to a foreign government leader in history," he said.

Sihanouk had contributed to Sino-Cambodian friendly relations and supported China in international affairs. "As Cambodia's head of state, I have stated several times at the UN General Assembly that there is only one China and Tibet is an inseparable part of China.

"The Cambodian people have supported their Chinese friends in the past and will continue to support them in the future whenever there is the need," he said.

"I'm honored and fortunate to be a friend of Chinese leaders of three generations and now I'm so happy to make friends with Chinese leaders of the new generation," he said, recalling how Deng Xiaoping held a Sichuan banquet to celebrate his birthday.

The king praised Chinese leaders such as Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai, saying they were heroes who liberated and revitalized China. "Through their leadership, China has become an important country among the world powers," he said.

The 81-year-old Cambodian King came to China every year for a health check. "Cambodian people always attribute my longevity to the expertise of Chinese doctors and the hospitality of the Chinese people."

He added, "The modernization drive of China has drawn world attention and the development of transportation in China has left a deep impression on me.
"I'm also amazed at the freedom and happiness of the Chinese people."

In Cambodia, Sihanouk followed the development of China through CCTV and read China Daily.

He showed his concern on a series of important meetings of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) held in June, in which China participated, "I'm happy to see that China and the friendly ASEAN member countries are making joint efforts for peace, stability and development of this region and the world at large."

China made consistent efforts to safeguard the ideal that all states, big or small, rich or poor, strong or weak, were equal members of the international community and had equal rights to freedom and peace, he stressed.

Premier Looks for Stronger Cambodia Ties

Premier Wen Jiabao presented an outline of tentative ideas for further development of Sino-Cambodian relations during his meeting with visiting Prime Minister Hun Sen on Tuesday.

Wen suggested holding frequent high-level meetings to form a solid basis for expansion of political relations; expanding economic and trade ties in such areas as infrastructure, telecommunications, agriculture and resource exploration; increasing exchanges in other fields, such as culture, education and sports; and strengthening cooperation in regional agreements, associations and projects, such as ASEAN and work in the Mekong River area.

The two leaders also witnessed the signing of 10 accords relating to bilateral cooperation in various fields.

Hun Sen spoke highly of the two countries' relationship, noting that China's development will benefit neighboring countries in the Mekong River area as well as its own people.

He reaffirmed that strengthening friendly relations with China is a priority in Cambodia's foreign relations policy.

Hun Sen arrived in Shanghai on Monday for a week-long visit to China. He will make stops in Hubei Province and the city of Chongqing before going to Hainan Province on April 24 and 25 to attend the Boao Forum for Asia before returning home.

Hun Sen is leading a delegation of 50-plus government and business representatives.

Among the top officials are Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hor Namhong, Defense Minister Tea Banh and Senior Minister Sok An.
Hun Sen's visit closely follows last month's four-nation tour by Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi, which saw nine agreements signed with Cambodia aimed at boosting trade from US$320 million to US$500 million by next year.

Hor Namhong told reporters before departing that four Chinese companies will also be signing contracts to invest in Cambodia during the visit.

I am NOT happy yet! Because the Chinese would like to sign for investment with the Cambodia by dealing with HUN SEN and CPP...Thats not our business to involve and participate any ideas.

But if The Chinese help the Khmers to remove out this regime dominion, afterall, the KhmerPeople welcome to whatever the Chinese wish to be! We can establish the business altogether and invest for entirelife!! It has no problem! The between China and Khmers are welcomed!!!! beerchug.gif .

The Khmer should thank the Chinese for supplying Pol Pot with tons of weapons during the Killing Field era.
FKR
You are right, RockHeart, I think the same as you do that China should not do any business with the regime of Hun Sen. He is nothing but a sellout to Hanoi. That one-eyed butcher has got to go.

Hey China!! You're a bigBrother of our KhmerPeople...We hope that you will help us to solve the country's crisis as soon as possible!

As you see about our KhmerLives are going to on the Edge of Death!! Because of the rouge regime commanded. The VN Communist Regime would be happier to see our KhmerPeople existence from earth! Because they were so "Hungry" for KhmerLand and they wish to swallow our KhmerLand as soon as they could!!

Our KhmerPeople had no experience in warfare as another. Because our KhmerPeople don't want to hurt the Human been, the KhmerPeople don't want to see the Human been's Bloods drop-down to the Land...Thats a horrible lives...The KhmerPeople just want to be free-dom, dignity and independence...The KhmerPeople are compassion, kind, intellectual, very much behaviors and mutual respect. No intrude the neighbor...

My suggestion is to be better if the China don't contribute and invest some monies to The Khmers, now. Because the China do here it just to boost the Hun Sen and CPP intensify powerful regime thats all!!! Then, Its so bad for KhmerPeople again and again!!...That mean the VN Communist continue to start for excecution the Khmers ...

Why can't I display or be proud of the national flag of Vietnam?
Thay_
Why don't you go to Santa Ana, California and display the VC flag. See what will your Vietnamese brothers and sisters would do to you. The answer to your question will be given.

If you are proud of the VC, then why border referring to Huaran as red neck nationalist?

I don't necessarily proud of the VC. I'm proud of being a Vietnamese and that flag is a representation of the modern and unified Vietnam.

Who are you talking about? I didn't see anything that was even remotely anti-Vietnamese being said. You can't barge into every thread and throw up the anti-Vietnamese flag just because you resent Khmers for resenting Vietnamese.

Khmers disregard what the Vietnamese have done and are, therefore, ungrateful? Think about it, Nam Quoc Son Ha, why would anybody appear ungrateful without due cause?

Please tell me, to your best knowledge, what exactly did Vietnam do to deserve a grateful response from the Cambodian people. Leave out no details.

Sure the Chinese played a big part in Cambodia, but they're beginning to own up to their responsibilities. I would like to see strong diplomatic ties between Cambodia and Vietnam as well, but it's not going to happen until Hun Sen's pro-Hanoi government is gone. Once this is taken care of, we can begin to rebuild and prosper among each other.

damb...if VC does HELP why do they WAIT after THOUSANDS of LIVES already been slaughter? Why do they force KHMER who CROSS over VIETNAM's border to run away from the genocide back to Cambodia?

Why DO THEY INVADE Cambodia?????????? Do you know something about the ISLAND between Cambodia & Vietnam.

#1 It's not only Cambodian that have been slaughter by the KR, but also Vietnamese citizen!

#2 Khmer Rough & Vietnam have been in disagreement in borders issues. Khmer Rough refused to sign a document to authorize Vietnam to gain access to that "border".

We do not WORDSHIP the Chinese, we only cooperate with them. We need friend like CHINESE to defend the invader. Like the old saying, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend".

If you are talking about "TIME MACHINE", I would too go back in time and tell the KING OF CAMBODIA not to allow YOUR PEOPLE to live in WHAT IS NOW SOUTH VIETNAM during YOUR SO CALLED CIVIL WAR. I would also GO FURTHER and WARN my friend the CHINESE about your PEOPLE FIGHT OF INDEPENDENCE to PREVENT YOU from remove YOUR EXISTENT.

Finally, I can't just STFU, this is my freedom of speech. Unless my HAND IS IN YOUR PANT, you have no right to tell what me what is right or wrong.

p.s if my hand is in your pant, I might have to go to the DR and get some good chemical to clean my DIRTY hand.

China is way ahead of the game these days, they are not going to let foreign influence ruin their country like the past and also be a puppet to other leaders of different countries. The last emperor pronounced Poo Yee and Cheng Kai Shek(nationalist corrupt leader) is a disgrace to the legacy of China, my grandfathers are disgraced at how they the past leaders of China can let foreign restaurants at the time say "no Chinese people or dogs allowed".

Mr. Mao is the man and those who follow his ideals have benfited and achieved the goal whether long or short term it was.

Hi Mugen, how r u? however it may be best if you can use another quote, from someone who is more Asian? than i'll respect your post too. However I never trusted the Romans(italians), cause they are one rude bunch of people especially the men, the italians these days still think its the 1930's or 1960's where the mafia and mafia bosses ruled most of any nation on earth. Not in 2005, the law and people are not afraid of any mob boss or gangsters. And most italians that i have come across in my life but 1 that i can remember, think they are bigger than you cause their pizzanos once was a very powerful mafia force in America.

But communist leaders like Fidel Castro of Cuba as well, showed them the door.
