This website contains the various opinions of people (both Westerner and Vietnamese) about Vietnam. I seemed to me that the ones that have "odd" opinion about Vietnam are the South Vietnamese Regime supporter. They can be easily recognised from their writing tone, i say, full of hatred. (Please note that i do recognised the limited ability of the current government). But still, somebody should be given a reality check.

true..nothing wrong about it. it just shows you that there are people earning a couple dollars a day if they're lucky while some VCs stealing millions a day from government fund which are intended for these poor folks.

Yeah they are pretty cute. Man if I were still in Vietnam, I would have been in the military by now. Just curious, how many years do you have to serve and do you really have to be in active service or just recieve.

And also, they are not communist. They are just only royal citizen of Vietnam that are doing their duty so I wouldn't say that they are communist party members.

They are cute; their looks are typical of Hanoians. Just go a normal Hanoi school and you can see that all students look like them.

Everyone has to do military service in Vietnam. It is compulsory for all who turn 18 unless you have to study further or are disabled, etc...reasons like that. U also receive military training in highschool and in university. Good exercise .

I already know that! You are pointing out something that I already know. Probably you read my post wrong. One of my question from my first post was how many years do people have to serve after high school and are they active duty or reservist? And yeah, I don't to do my homework, all I need to do is A's my midterm and final !

Sorry, i didnt answer what u're really want to know. My post above wasnt directed to anyone in particular, just general.

But anyway, u generally serve 2 years. In peace time, it is more likely that u are sent to the boder and receive training there (and yes, u have to learn martial art there, & follow a very strict schedule). It is active duty, so I guess if war break down (BTW very unlikely), u r to fight immediately. Those called reservists are the ones who are able to fight but for some reasons (unis, work, etc), didnt do military service.
