Why don't Vietnamese do movies or series as good as other countries? We are mainly focus on music and when we try to do movie, it sucks. I think if we really try we can just be as good as any other countries. I hope there will be a Viet wave in the future

There are no cameras or video recorders in vietnam so they can't make any movies. communists don't believe in cameras... Modern technology is for capitalist pigs. -

Some Viet films are very good , "Cánh đồng hoang" , "muà hè thẳng đứng" and some american-Viet productions.
One reason why Viet film are not well cosidered is because they are utilized as propagandas.

Well, since Vietnam doesn't have absolute freedom to do movies on anything, they gotta settle with karaoke and comedy sketches. Because laughter is the best entertainment ever! The lady in the Ao Dai yelling at her peasant husband is hilarious!!

The only things they are good at are propaganda. Actually, propaganda movies were pretty crap and unconvincing as well.

is that the one with the cute little kid and they call him "chuot" (mouse). if that's the same movie, i remember it being good. vietnamese entertainment is okay. after all, only the rich can afford to go to film school and to go to a good film school is to go over to another country.

I have only watched 1 Vietnamese movie in my life and it was called "Oan Hon." Anyway, I think the only original music that comes from Vietnam is the country music. You know the type of music that Nhu Quynh, Diem Phuong Hanh, and Phi Nhung sings. Of course, Nhu Quynh is the queen of country music though. Otherwise, I don't listen much to Vietnamese music since most are all copied songs from some country.

You need a great director and good acting, as well as some bit of technology -- I've seen some Vietnamese movies where the sound quality is just so amateurish. So, anyone here from the arts and entertainment industry, or maybe even in the movie industry? Maybe you can contribute your skills and talent in Vietnam.

Vietnamese movies don't really appeal to me. Music is about what we mainly have, and even that may have huge chinese influence or are translated from other foreign songs. No creativity there. Don't get me wrong, I love our culture. Anyway, Has anyone seen Vuot Song? I think there were a couple screenings down in LA. Its an american-viet based production, but I'm lookin forward to watchin that movie once it releases.

Minh Tri aka Johnny Nguyen is filming movies in VN now. So far, I've only seen clips of it but it seems very funny and the quality is pretty good. The only thing I don't like is the dubbing.
