Japan reinstates a ban on beef imported from the United States after a shipment from New York arrives with backbones. The Japanese prohibit beef parts connected to the central nervous system, citing fears of mad cow disease.

QUOTE
Consumers said they were worried.

"I feel a little betrayed," said Takayoshi Sakamoto, 34, who works for a personnel management firm.

"They promised they would check things, but this is what happened," he added. "I can tell you that even when U.S. beef is back on the shelves again, I won't really want to buy it."

Mistakes were bound to happen. Americans are not known for their quality when it comes to their work. Just look at the inferior American cars compared to their foreign counterparts. (excluding Chinese cars...)

The Americans should have been more carefull about this, especially knowing how the Japanese are so obssessed with perfection.

Who eats a spinal column anyways?
