I'm a Malaysian Chinese living in the capital city Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia is just fascinating, with multi racial communities living in harmony. Visit to see for yourself!

I find that hard to believe considering the neighboring Indonesia is infamous for its violent torturous treatment toward Chinese residents who worked hard to hold their wealth.

But then again, anything's possible.

1/3 of Malaysia is populated by ethnic Chinese, I hope Malaysia won't get overran by these people one day.

I would love to visit Malaysia or Singapore but i'm a little bit afraid that something might get exploded while i was walking down the streets of these two countries.

Is there something you know that I don't know about singapore? confused.gif I thought that was one of the safest countries, low crime and extremely tough on outlaws.

'overran be these people'? Your ability to change every topic into anti-Chinese propaganda suprises me very much.

It shouldn't be too surprisingly considering such anti-Chinese propaganda came from a ACVS.

Well, Malaysia had a vast expanse of land.

@ tgt: Malaysia and Singapore's bilateral ties are getting warmer ever since our new Prime Minister, Abdullah Badawi succeeded Dr. Mahathir. The Chinese community doesn't really pose a threat to other races, either. Even the ethnic community were told by their leaders to emulate the Chinese in the way they do business and so on. So you do not need to have any unnecessary worries about "walking down the streets of these two countries". ^__~

I am Filipino. I've been staying in Penang, Malaysia since May 19. gone to Singapore, Thailand, and almost all states in west malaysia. no violence here. everything is peaceful. Taxi drivers are more interested about what's going on in the Philippines.
Malaysia is a really good country. the forests and jungles are preserved despite its modernity. When I came back from Bangkok, I chose to take the train to Butterworth just to experience it. Some friends objected, saying it's quite dangerous in the south bordering Malaysia. To my disappointment, the trip was uneventful, except for the immigration guy asking me too many questions, while they don't ask a thing about the white travellers.
Maybe they suspect what I am doing in Malaysia travelling so often in the last two months. He cannot seem to believe that a Filipino could travel three countries in a period, just like the Europeans. Anyway my vacation ends next month. But I have good things to say about Malaysia when I get home.

I'm an Indonesian and I love Malaysia. Got some Malaysians friends here beerchug.gif
I also speak Malay, well, I understand it but I'm not fluent at it. I happen to love the Philippines as well kiss.gif

^Your bahasa Malaysia is probably much better than my bahasa Indonesia, Shino icon_wink.gif

I think this topic really needs to be moved to the Malaysian Chat proper. It really doesn't belong in the Local Area Asian Chat.

Aku bisa sikit sikit la cakap malay, jom kita semua cakap malay!
^_~ Bahasa Indonesia is easy nowadays, we don't use those grammar formal crap, now it's just easy without many grammars. But we have LOADS of idioms, so if you want to master Indonesian I think you should listen to it more often or maybe have a good Indo friend to help you. I learn Malaysian from the internet though XD~
malaccan
^I like idioms and proverbs too. biggthumpup.gif My grandparents would use them everyday and they would sound smooth and natural. They can also berpantun on the spot. Many Malaysians nowadays including myself can't do this anymore. icon_sad.gif Come over to the Malaysian Chat, there's a thread called Mari Bertutur Dalam BM. It's quite colloquial, though in truth, everyday Malay is even more colloquial than that! And the Malay spoken in Melaka is different from the one spoken in Penang as it's different from the one spoken in Kelantan as it is different from the one in Sabah. Your Malaysian friends will no doubt speak in that girly chit-chat manner of girls everywhere which is often incromprehensible to the general public. LOL. embarassedlaugh.gif2 asskick.gif- Aduh, jangan ditendang gue. Gurau aja sih! icon_wink.gif
