Im planning to go back to Thailand this summer with friends, actually we're going to visit and stay in thailand for 3 weeks, then take a bus to visit Cambodia for 5 days and then take a bus to tour Vietnam for a week before going back to Thailand.

Do you guys know what places are worth while to visit? I mean good tourist areas?

I really want to see ancient Cham ruins, as well as pagodas in the north and some of the note worthy vietnamese beaches!

Thanks guys.

Hanoi is the way to go.

You should go to the region of Nha Trang, Phan Rang, Phan Thiet. Those are the last strong hold of the Champa kingdom and they still have many Champa ruins left. The places also have very beautiful beaches.

When visiting Vietnam, Cambodia & Laos, always be mindful of landmines, unexploded bombs and Agent Orange contaminated lands. Highly populated areas are obviously safe...

Im rather impressed with the cham ruins, personally and thats one of the major reasons why i want to go to vietnam; are there actually any pure cham people left living in vietnam? or have they been intermingled?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cham_people

The Cham people are descendants of the kingdom of Champa. Their population of approximately 100,000 is centered on the cities of Phan Rang and Phan Thiet in central Vietnam. Neighbouring Cambodia has the largest concentration of Chams where their numbers ranges from as low as half a million to perhaps as high as a million.

The Chams are considered Malays and the language they speak is understood by the Malays. In both Cambodia and Vietnam, they form the core of the Muslim communities of these countries.

You probably should look up the official url by the ministry of tourism.

If you're at Tan Son Nhut airport in Saigon or Noi Bai in Hanoi, make sure you have a camera, because you can take photos of military aircrafts. But be careful though.

1st day: Hochiminh city-Dalat

You should visit:
_Dinh Độc lập (independent palace)
_Bảo tàng chứng tích chiến tranh (museum of war remains)
_Wander about the streets in 1st and 3rd District: Đồng Khởi, Nguyễn Huệ, Lê Lợi, ect... You should have a small map, you will enjoy eveything by discovering the streets by yourself.

_Evening: try food in Bến Thành market.

In evening star off to Da Lat by plane. (From Tansonnhat airport to Lien Khuong airport)

_Visit the night market in Dalat. Have a glass of soy-bean milk there. It is great to try the hot milk in that cold weather.

2nd and 3rd days: Dalat-the city of flowers love2.gif

You can ask the hotel (where you live) about places you should visit.
Here are some.
_Prenn water fall
_Thung lũng t́nh yêu_Love Valley

(It is said there was a couple commiting suicide here for love embarassedlaugh.gif2 )

_Langbiang

(This is also a place of love. Once upon a time, there was a young boy named Lang (very handsome biggrin.gif ) loving a young girl named Biang (very beautiful embarassedlaugh.gif). Unfortunately Biang's father did not accept it. Biang ran away to look for Lang, she ran, ran to death and her soul turned into a natingale embarassedlaugh.gif .

One day Lang went hunting, and he met the natingale Biang. Lang turned to a pine, therefore they were together forever biggthumpup.gif Thus the moutain has been called LangBiang)

_Suối vàng suối bạc (golden stream)

ect ect....

_Give sometime for wandering around Dalat. Go into the alleys, watching the villas with flowers, you will be in love with some Dalat girl biggrin.gif

Sirikittong
WOW.....dalat looks spectacular!!

7th day Hanoi

_Visit Hochiminh museum.
_Visit Military museum.
_Visit around Tràng Tiền.

Ok, fly back to Thai. Have a nice trip. biggthumpup.gif

The most interesting thing in Vietnam is to walk around the treeful streets and have food outside. Hope you'll enjoy! In Hochiminh city remember to visit Bason musem on Tôn Đức Thắng street and try Ḅ Lá Lốp (Viet food) there. You will love it.

Meeting anyone, if you want some strange sensation then just say that you are Viet living somewhere, forgetting Vietnamese embarassedlaugh.gif2 . then they will "cheat" you less biggthumpup.gif

(my friend once went to Thailand and told all that she is Thai. She visited all places for free coz they fully believed her and she said it was interesting to try on being Thai for some days)

I have been to the Champa towers a lot of times (coz my native land is there in the central). How is it like? Like the pictures which i posted embarassedlaugh.gif2

I have visited some small Cham towers on the way from Quang Ngai to Da Nang too... When you stand there on the deserted hill and watch the imposing scene around... I imagined so many things "How great was the Champa kingdom". "Thousands of year ago what was happening at the right place where im standing?"... Very spectacular!
