What wierd food have you eaten when you visited Vietnam? Like animals that you wouldn't normally eat. I've only been there once and the only wierd food I've tried was snake. It was actually very good.

Some people mite have not been to Vietnam before so how about "weirdest Vietnamese food you've eaten"...?
hMm.. let's see. I've eaten this rice soup with chicken hearts (don't know what it's called) before and damn, it tasted nasty.

I've eaten what my ex-gf's family called "Vietnamese Pizza". I don't know the Vietnamese name but it's made out of duck blood. It was watery but they told me it's supposed to be more solid.
I've not eaten, but seen Vietnamese eat half fertalized duck eggs. When they cracked the shell open, you could see feather and they just dig in with their spoon.
I'm not going to judge but those sure seemed "weird" to me.

I only had a bite of the "Vietnamese Pizza" because my ex-gf's family pressured me into it. I didn't dare eat the half-fertalized duck egg and they understood.
Maybe the "Vietnamese Pizza" would have tasted better if it was more solid and that I didn't know it was duck blood

BTW, what are they called in Vietnamese? I'd hate to keep refering to them as "Vietnamese Pizza" and half-fertalized duck egg

Hahhaahaha... exactly. My brother would never do it again, he thinks it's a little cruel on the little duckies. But I try it like nothing. I just keep thinking that it's just a regular egg, but without the over-medium, I prefer it as "under-easy." Hehehehhehe...

I think they tried to say Banh Cheo. I saw a picture in a vietnamese restaurant and that's what they invented new name for it in english. Banh Cheo is more like taco, but soft shell.
Is it khmer food or vietnamese? Where is the origin of Banh Cheo came from? I know vietnamese will says it vietnamese.

It's cháo huyết (huyết = máu. Same meaning). In Vietnam, they even have pieces of pig lungs and intestine in the bowl (called cháo ḷng), but pig lungs are rarely available in the States.

I go to New Port, RI every year to go squid fishing, and there are a bunch of Koreans there. They wash the squid in sea water and dip it into a sauce and eat while it's still alive. That $hit was crazy, I wanted to try it though.

I was in Vietnam during Tet. When I sat outside a restaurant, someone brought a huge king cobra and asked me if I want to drink the blood. Damn, the cobra was so intimidating. However I spent 10 bucks to drink cobra blood in my cognac. That night I kept my girlfriend up until 6 AM. At 7AM I still had a hard on.
My American friend and I was eating outside Hanoi. There was a meat dish. He tried it and like it a lot. After the the meal he asked the restaurant owner, who was also entertaining us., what kind of meat was it. This guy does not speak Engliah. He could only say "woof, woof..."
Then there was a dish they showed us. They call it ca` cuo^'ng ... but I could warranty it looked like cockroaches.

This is a similar picture.
There are so many wonderful restaurants in Thu Duc and Bien Hoa area. There was a dish called "ngoc suong," or goat's ball. Men it tasted awful. I had some "suon heo rung nuong" (board rib bbq) I just love it but hope it wasn't woof woof...
