I definately like Fish Sauce and it can almost get addicting. Anything related to seafood is on my plus list. But for fish sauce you either like it or hate it: Alot of western people says it smells like a woman's privates.
Nam Quoc Son Ha
thanks for the info tongbao icon_rolleyes.gif
Cevilgenius
O... kay... and how would those people know what a woman's private smells like?

aZnRiCeChiQ
i like fish sauce sometimes...i depends on what you put it in...my mom has hella bottles of fish sauce in the cupboard...my brother says the older it is the better flavor? anyways...i hate the way it smells
Mantis
Fish sauce? It's the clear, oily one you guys are talking about right? I love dipping my spring rolls in that stuff whenever I eat out at a Vietnamese restaurant. Good stuff beerchug.gif

And btw, Vietnamese rice noodle with tender beef flanks is da $hit!
Vuong
i can eat food with nuoc mam but i prefer soy sauce tbh
unattractiveguy
I love it!!!!

Here is one of the other name for fish sause that my whitenese friend called it. He called it "WET DOG", and he loves it. But the worse of fish sause is "Mam Nem", that is one of the worst kind of wet dog, but it goes good with some of the food too. For fish sause, if you do this, it will go good with any kind of rice or noodle.

1 or 2 chilly peper (thai's pepper) or even more if you like it spicy.
2table spoon of sugar
2 piece of garlic (again, depend on how much you like garlic)
1/8 of lemon (fresh one to get juice)

put sugar, pepper, garlic into a little bowl (smack them real good) add lemom juice in, mix it up good, then add wet dog in, mix them good again, then you will have a tasteful sause can go along with any kind of rice or blank noodle. We Vietnamese uses fish sauce almost on any food, and i love it.
DaiNamViet
Nuoc Mam beerchug.gif

I love it. Last time I met this girl and she smelled like fish sause...

I love mam nem mixed with a little pineapple, but I can't stand fish sauce or any other kind of mam. It stinks man.
justinqu
man, i gotta tell you brotha, no offense but you're a little odd, nuoc mam is ok, man ruot is a little stronger, but mam nem, boy oh boy, with pinnaple with it, uhm uhm uhm, it taste hella good with Bo Nuong Vi, or Nem Nuong or even Salad Rolls, but man, mam nem is strongest smell ever, hella stinks, i gotta brush my fang at least 3 times after eating it.
JustINtroverted
I like fish sauce... but it stinks so bad..
herosword
For some strange reason with many Asian food, the more it stinks the better it taste.
Phil_Huynh

and yeah some things u need to eat it with
like umm the noodle one
hahha
im viet

you're right herosword, the more stinker that is, the better that gonna taste, like dry fish, or dry squish, man, cook them up on the charbroil, and eat with rice or drink with beer, yum yum yum beerchug.gif

I can still remember the last dry squish I had...god it was perfection. Dip it in Oil and salt or the sauce you eat with pho...ahhh...mouth watering.

Now there's no more sadly. I'll have to wait til someone go back to vietnam to get me some. The stuff you get in the supermarket is no substitute for the real squid dried whole.
justinqu
darn, you know how to eat brotha, try this one out if you have a chance, use a little fish sause, add a little red pepper, then add a little lemon (fresh one), mix them up, then deep that dry squish in it, you will taste the sweetness out of that squish (whishkey or beer go with it, that tha shiet)..(i personally dont' drink, but i do that for my friends and they loves it.)
JustINtroverted
Then kill everything in site with your breathe...

RIght after I eat Vietnamese food.. I eat gum or gargle...

I like mam nem because of bo nuon vi too. The pinapple kinda canceled out the smell to the point I can tolerate it, but nuoc mam by itself I can't.
Rappapa
Nuoc mam is alright.
