Just curious, I've been to plenty of Vietnamese weddings in Australia. But I have not yet attended one in Vietnam itself.

Anyone from Vietnam or has been to one in Vietnam?

Is it any different?
If so, please explain to me how so.

Thank you.

Dam Hoi: engagement.. instead of proposing to his girlfriend.. his parents are suppose to come over the house and ask if the guy can marry the girl...

Dam Cuoi: wedding.. the parties are at both side of the family, first the groom's side will go over to the bride's side, have lunch, and get his wife, then, they'll go over to the groom's side and have dinner... then they'll treat their friends at about 7pm in the groom's side... : they decorate the wedding places very cute... I <3 it.. icon_smile.gif

I think that's basically it.. this is from the rural areas.. anyone wanna add more?

I guess that's pretty much it. I have never attented any Asian (including Vietnamese) wedding before. But I think that's how it works.

Thanks for the replies.
From what I know of, the bride is dressed in the traditional red colours, while the groom is dressed in the blue dress. The bride changes clothes numerous times throughout the day.
I've watched a relatives wedding in Vietnam, and weddings there are regarded as one of the most important events within their community. Basically the whole community is invited, since their living so close together. So pretty much you'd mistake the bride and groom as superstars if you didn't know they were getting married.

yup, but they're the only one wearing the wedding outfits.. so you can't be mistaken.

I heard from my mother that there's two types of weddings... one wearing Ao Dai's and the other... which I don't have a clue about.

Wow, there are two types of traditional weddings in Vietnam? Could anyone give me more info about this please.

One's pronounced Buk Fong and the other Nam Fong. I don't know the proper spelling but all I know is how it's pronounced. One has a red and blue suits for the bride and groom and the other consists of Ao Dai's.
