Quang Bang
How many of you have use Viet names not english ones? Mine is Quang and I us to hate that name cause ppl would make fun of it. This was way ago in Primary school and some ppl would just call me Quack, duck etc. It use to just piss me off. But now I'm proud of my name, its so unique over here in Autralia. You know it stands out and stuff. But it still annoys me when ppl mis-pronounce it. Like they say Quong or something, my name doesn't have a fkn o in it.

Yah, I guess everyone has the same problem, too. My name is Tuấn, and people used to call me "tune," but I didn't like it. So I really don't care. I prefer them calling me "twan" though. Ah, so many ways to pronounce it, but as long as I love my name, it's all good. And yes, I am proud to have that name, and damn proud to be a son of two Vietnamese.

When I was born in Sai Gon I was given a Vietnamese name. However, my parents moved to the States and eventually I was adopted by an American family. They couldn't pronounce my Vietnamese name so they assigned me their surname and an American first name: Timothy
I don't remember my Vietnamese name.

that is something very worthy of exclaiming your pride!!! although it can be looked at through another light as viets have also been the foreign assimilator.

but i suppose since DAI VIET is promoting "viet pride clan" along with "peace clan" it is not a "in your face, look what we did to you" type of PRIDE icon_smile.gif

go viet pride!

dalawapo, what the hell is wrong with ya? Viet Pride is simply showing your pride that you are Vietnamese, because of your culture, people, history, foods, anything that has to do with Vietnamese.
Byron
Ok Phillipines has their own unique culture mixed with Spanish influence.

And what about the Phillipinos? Do they assimulate or not? I read in the phillipines forums that basically their whole culture is based on American and Spanish influences. The ones here I see, even talk in a Spanish accent and stuff.

when i said "assimilator" i meant it like this...

"WE ARE THE BORG.... YOU WILL BE ASSIMILATED.... RISISTANCE IS FUTILE." bawling.gif

"WE ARE THE VIETS.... YOU WILL BE ASSIMILATED.... RISISTANCE IS FUTILE." bawling.gif
