Actually, buc is closer to Vietnamese ba(c' (and coincidentally to Quang? Ngai? accent as well. Ngu*` ba^c' = ngu*o*i` ba(c')

Cantonese pronounciation of ba(c' is actually pak.

Ooooo oo! I know one racist joke for the Khmers, but that's too mean, so I don't want to write it.

Why do people make fun of Bac Ky so much, I think ngu*o*`i Ba('c are a fine group of Vietamese, aren't they the butt of most jokes, just want to know why.
tqt
The most nationalistic and patriotic people of Vietnam are the Bắc Kỳ people.
Nam Quoc Son Ha
We're all Vietnamese so it ain't a racist joke. Just think that our ancestors migrated to the south from the north all those years ago. The saying was meant as a joke so please no bad feeling.

Of course not, the jokes are funny, and you can't be Vietnamese if you take it seriously, it's a cultural thing, I just don't kn ow why not as much South or Central jokes, maybe there are...

There are no such thing as a central joke drunk_on_tea. Because Da Nang is the best. Hehehehehhe...
dtb
Southern Vietnamese also call Northerners "thang/con nho rau muong," because they love to eat rau muong
To counterattack, Northern Viets call Southerners "thang/con nho gia," (bean sprouts) because they like to eat gia'.

No it's not. Da Nang has the perfect accent of all Vietnamese regions.
drunk_on_tea
*cough yeah right JK, each accent is cute in its own aspect, but you guys now Northern is the best. biggrin.gif

LOL actually I reckon the central Vietnamese accent is the hardest to understand of the three regions. They don't pronounce the word correctly and the tones can be misleading. I know from personal experience. My aunty in Vietnam got 5 central Viet workers and two dozen northern Viets. Central Viets are very nice though, I mean very friendly and hospitable, also from personal experience.

Hey! No one says "đè nẽng," I say it "Đà Nẵng" just like it is. Those who say "đè nẽng" live on the other side of the river. We live on the other side, which has a complete different accent, and we pronouce it more accurate than anyone else.

You got that right my friend. Especially the ones from Đà Nẵng.

Bac people can't pronounce the sound tr as in trả for example. They pronounce like zả, and they pronounce d as z like zâng instead of dâng. Don't lecture us that Bac accent is accurate.
