The reason Chinese likes "mail order brides" because traditionally the Chinese prefer to have sons rather then daughters. And China, with a one-child policy, mix with tradition creates an unbalance between the number of girls and boys. So as China's population grow there will be more guys then gals, so off course, they need to import women from other countries.

Some people say that in the future, China will have more fags because they ain't gonna be enough women in China for the larger number of men (by at least 50 million). So it make sense that many Chinese men will marry a wife of different race.

There's a large ethnic Chinese population in Vietnam.

But yeah, this is surprising. At least in CA, whenever I go to a Vietnamese restauraunt or super market, I always hear Cantonese.
I remember walking into a Pho restauraunt and the waitress asked "say goh yun?"

It's probably because Vietnam is so close to Southern China. In my dad's village, the village not only prays to Chinese ancestors, but to the souls of a group of Vietnamese travellers who used to frequent the village a long whiles back.

My neighbor is from Vietnam, but she's Chinese and speaks Cantonese.

Actually, yes. There is a Vietnamese Pho restaurant called "Pho Young Chow" here. The waiters are Chinese; the owner is also Chinese.
