I don't have rare last name, but my schoolmate does. Her last name is "Tô". Her parents are 100% Vietnamese.

Vi and Vĩ are the first names. I never heard the last name "Vi" either.

are you sure Ly is a common vietnamese surname, i always thought it was chinese, most viets i've met with that name were usually haft chinese.

I'm a Luong. Eh. I haven't heard that one on here yet. I know lots of people with Duong. Hah. Guess cause they are all related. To is new to me. Ha, is chinese, I think.

I don't know it's my grandpa's last name. He is full Chinese. It's actually Leung but when he went to Vietnam they 'translated' it to Luong. I don't know why.

The last names Au and Lac are probably two of the most rarest last names. I once met a teacher with the last name "Au" and she proudly proclaims that she is the most authentic Vietnamese because of her last name.

We have many Nguyen because in the 13th century, a lot of the Ly were forced to change their last names to Nguyen.
