Ho Xuan Huong is notorious for writting sexualized poems and feminism; she also known as Queen of Chu Nom

Translation:

Hồ Xuân Hương referred to a woman who at that time, in spite of her tainted body and difficulties of life, continued to keep her heart pure and faithful. She was also the only one who dared approach her rights as a woman and talk shamelessly about carnal love. She succeeded in not being censored through her unequaled skill by proceeding with allusions and metaphors. To talk about erotism, she used a soothing description of landscape and objects, things the most believed in a feudal society.

What the?!?!?!? I didn't know that she could make such poems. Man, what a woman! Better not translate the second poem to English dude.

But she was good at writing poems in Chu Nom, consider that it was not widely used during that time.

But Ho Xuan Huong is a great poet, there's no doubt about it. She did revolutionized the way people write poems though.

Click on it once (next to the clock), and it will turn turn to the letter "V" for Vietnamese. Then you can type Vietnamese. Click it again, it will become "E" for English, which is normal. Double click it will give you many options to change your style of typing. It's easier if you use "UNICODE" and "TELEX"

Chiều Quan Ải by Nguyễn Trãi

Quan ải chiều buông cánh nhạn sa
Hắt hiu gió lạnh khóc tình nhà
Trời Ngô dõi mắt đau lòng trẻ
Đất Việt dời chân nát dạ cha
Lệ nén lưng tròng, thù quyết trả
Gan căm dằn bụng, hận khôn tha
Núi cao trùng điệp, thân cô lẻ
Nỗi nước, tình riêng ... ruột xót xa.

This peom was written by Nguyễn Trãi when the Ming invaded Vietnam in 1410 and took his father and other heroes to China. Nguyễn Trãi went with his father to Ải Nam Quan gate to bid farewell to his father, who would be executed by Ming Chinese. He cried and wrote this poem at that moment as his father passed the Ải Nam Quan gate. His father cried and replied to him, "Gentlemen don't cry, go home and prepare to avenge your country (Đại Việt), and my death."

He went and aid Lê Lợi to resist Chinese domination, after the Đại Việt got its independence back, Lê Lợi accended to the throne and became the Lê Thái Tổ (First Lê Emperor). Nguyễn Trãi wrote the Declaration of Independence, known as "Bình Ngô Đại Cáo." Which still survives today.

How can you not be moved by this poem hehe. Thanks DAI VIET, the only work I've read is Binh Ngo Dai Cao and it's such a shame that he and his family were tru di tam toc. As for Uc Trai Tien Sinh, I haven't heard of him. I've read several of Cao Ba Quat's poem, they were simple but difficult to understand.
