Im surprised that many Vietnamese dunno who the Chams are. Because:

- If you are a southerner, you may have cham blood
- Che Linh, a famous singer is cham ethnic
- Many my friends are of cham origin and even carry cham surname, Tra` although they refer themself as Kinh

malaccan

I think she's cute. Big eyes, shape of the face... she looks very Malay as it is, even with the different way of wearing the headscarf.

Many Vietnamese heard about Cham, but they have never met Cham face-to-face. I lived in a district that is close to the Cham’s Towers in province Binh Dinh, but I didn’t see any of them in the area either. I only saw their pictures on the Internet. Cham live in the central Vietnam’s provinces Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, and Khanh Hoa.

Oh yes, I've met one Cham. Che Linh! He went to the house across the street from me. His old buddy lives there. My dad came over and drank a couple Hienekens and sang Karaoke with him. embarassedlaugh.gif2

So Vietnamese don't remember important ethnics in the lists of ethnic minorities?
I think Trà is Chinese 茶 meaning 'tea'. Perhaps they were forced to adopt that/to change surname.

Any picture of Che Linh?

Uhh. Che Linh is little pink square? Are you tricking me?
By the way Trà Toàn does not seem Malayic name. Perhaps Vietnamese gave him name who knows? (perhaps like how Ancient Chinese gave to Hun kings)
Oh, do you have source of Cham king names?

here is Che Linh.

Actually Trà Toàn is Po Kaprah, that is the way Vietnamese transcipted Cham names using Chinese characters. WTF is "Malayic name"?

So my past assumption was true.

Any list of Cham kings? (and names Vietnamese gave them?)
