I lived in Vietnam for 3yrs working with an organization that build schools and hospitals for under develop areas. Who here lived in Vietnam as an adult and know whats up?

I just visit vn I don't live there

I lived in VN as a child but that was years ago, visited 4 times in the past 4 years but that's not the same as living there. Tell me some of the things you experienced in your 3 yrs living there. Btw, what part of VN were you at? North or South?

Well I was earning 1,500US a month so I was living pretty good. I've been all around the outside of the big citys even where the Hmongs are at but I mainly lived in Hanoi. The craziest I've seen is a person killing another person and giving 100US to the police and got away with it. Visiting Vietnam you would know alot but when you visit you're spending money and having fun and thats just one side of Vietnam.

With 1500USD a month you can live pretty decent though... Yes I know what you mean by "visiting VN you'd know a lot but when you visit you're spending $$$ & having fun & thats just one side of VN". I had fun while I was there, I was in Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Hanoi, Saigon, Nha Trang, Dalat, Vung Tau etc... and all those places are so developed and beautiful at the same time. I wouldn't mind living there for several years though...

You can live in Vietnam by teaching english but I don't think you make that much money.

I wish I could visit Nam now where the US dollars is still strong. I'm afraid by the time I get to go my dollars would not stretch too far. I just want to be your King for a day.

The currency is still 100USD = 1.5 million VND correct? Or has it fluctuate?

Thats pretty accurate VND hasn't really change much lately. Let me think what can I do in vietnam with 100usd.

The position is filled now. If you wanna job some of the big private school in VN you can make up to 2000usd teaching english. I talk to this girl who teach at the small school and she makes like 500usd a month.

We are talking about the general population in VN and to make 1500USD a month that's A LOT!!! Most only make 50USD a month!!! Of course there are a lot of rich people in VN too but only a handful, you don't really think b/4 you talk huh Waterlily??? I'm sure every country has poverties and that's one reason peeps will kill just for 100 USD. I've not been to Vietnam but would like to someday. I guess rural areas are the same as rural areas in the US only difference is accessibility to health and other goods.
