yeah...my dad said that hoangs and huynhs are practically the same, same meaning, same ancestors, etc.....but i'll never consider myself as a huynh. i dont have anything against huynhs but i prefer being a hoang. =\ and for some reason huynhs are more known than hoangs. some guy i once knew who was a huynh thought i was chinese cuz he didnt know hoang was a viet last name. it irked me so much i ignored him for the rest of the year. heh.

i see...Lord Nguyen Hoang in the south ordered for his people to change their surname from "Hoang" to "Huynh"...but in the north, people was ruled by Lord Trinh, so they still kept their surname as Hoang...
