Well i'm new here. hi everyone!

Anyway, after browsing in the viet forum, i noticed that whenever someone posted a pic of a good looking viet girl, the usual reply is "she doesn't look like viet to me
". But when an ok or a ugly pic, they seem to agree it's viet.

It seems like some other race/racess (u kno who u r) think viets r jux people with ugly flat noses and pretty one is nonexistent...

well it's jux an opinion. i'm not declaring war with any1!

Most people or even some Vietnamese think like that because they have never been exposed to that many Vietnamese. The only Vietnamese that they see are those that are depicted by the Hollywood industry in many of those Vietnam war movies. People are ignorant, please forgive them.

lol most of those "vietnamese" in those vietnam war films are really cambodians. Vietnam war films were really made before the 1993 Vietnam-U.S trade establishment again so before then Americans couldn't go to Vietnam to make movies so they had to pick Cambodia to make those movies.

IMO, koreans and japanese seem to have prettier women because of their plastic surgery. We, viets, tend to go for the pretty, yet ficial composure.

Viets tend to have bigger rounder eyes and a slightly darker complexion, depending where you live (like around the globe, not all viets are gunna look the same). At least this is what I have seen of the vietnamese in New Orleans. The ones that live here in Canada seem to share the same characteristics though have lighter skin due to the fact that they're not exposed to the sun as much as Southerners do.

But hey, can you blame people for mistaking what nationality you are? It's like asking us to make a difference between Italians, French, Germans and Americans. Or Spanish, Brazilian, Columbians and Cubans. We'd probably say "They look all the same to me." So I think instead of getting offended, you should know that the majority of people (including you) can't always tell a difference within a specific race which nationality they are from.

It also depend on the most people you been surrounded and what are u comparing to. From my personal experience, yes (some) viet have rounder eyes and darker COMPARED to viets, but compared to INDIAN or CAMBODIAN they are lighter and has smaller eyes.

like stated b4 people judge from their experience, if they have not been exposed to tru substance they will use their knowlege (no matter how limited) to judge. so yeah it could be blamed on ignorance or just ....well ignorance.


me on the other hand think that alot of viet gurls ive seen are very pretty. but i've never met a "non" halfer viet b4. (they called themselves this not me.)

I don't think any War Movies were filmed in Cambodia. Even the Movie "The Killing Fields" about Cambodia wasn't filmed in Cambodia, it was filmed in Thailand. The Khmer Rouge was still dangerous in Cambodia before 1993. Cambodia was still dangerous and land mines every where.... so I don't think those Vietnamese War Films were shot in Cambodia.

Menikani is right, it's not Combodia but in the Philippine.

Heh I've seen a few pretty vietnamese. It's not that hard to come across. Anyway, I don't think that only ugly people are vietnamese...

Lol..I said the same thing in another thread, without realizing it's already a common joke. But I really do look Chinese though because I have small eyes. Chinese people think I'm Chinese; Viets think I'm Chinese. Whites think I'm Chinese..but duh.

I heard that joke a few years ago, it was hilarious the first time i heard it.

The person who thought he was Chinese was Chinese, that's why he said they were ugly themselves. Hahaha, it was hilarious. Had to be there.

Hahaha, just a while ago there was a heated debate on this eh? Too bad it was closed before i could give any input. It's dumb how some people think they got us all figured out not realizing we do vary hugely by region. I'm southern and even i can acknowledge that we southerners tend to be darker. I'm average asian though (YELLOW, hahaha), i'm not white with a pinkish hue as the northerners are.
