Even if I post the Vietnamese translation here, you won't pronounce it properly if you can't read Vietnamese.
How about "Voulez-vous coucher avec moi, ce soir?" Don't need to be poetry, everyone understand the international language of love.

I simply answered the thread-starter's question, putting the sentences in english-pronunciations, disregarding the actual spelling, which in this case is redundant because without knowlege of the vietnamese tonal system, it would be hard to decipher and pronounciate simultaneously.

Yes, you seem to radiate maturity, oh wise one.
MAYBE, 'em' will sound like eminent with an accent of someone from tennessee. But 'am' comes close to how I pronounce it.
I'm basing this on how I pronounce it. of course its not accurate, because I don't think the phonetic version will ever compensate for the actual spelling. Get off my case.
Plus, my mom is from the north, so mine are based on bac pronounciation. Yes, I mad afew mistakes, i'll correct 'tan' with 'tun'.
But YOU are avoiding the real issue. YOU provide a phonetic version, stop analysing and picking out every single one of MINE. *cough* control freak *cough*
okay just if you may, by chance, have missed some pointers:
1/ I am english as in, my 'dialect', if you will are to the oxford standard.
2/ My cultural lineage traces to North Vietnam so there are linguistic variations.
There's some contextual considerations you may like to take.

cranberrijooce
Mar 10 2005, 01:38 AM
damnit, ignore function won't work so to answer your question, you misunderstand:
the vietnamese 'em' sounds similar to the english way of pronouncing 'am', so I think you might like to ask me how to pronounce the english compound of 'em' as in 'eminent', instead. It's hard to explain but the 'e' is not dominant as the american way of pronouncing it, therefore it sounds nothing like the vietnamese 'em'. That's why I changed it.
VietPunk
Mar 10 2005, 01:51 AM
No no no. If you take em from eminem, that's how you are supposed to say it already. Vietnamese em is not the same as english am.
I am cool
Eminem is white
Please tell me how you say each word in both languages. I did not disunderstand you. Am is am, em is em, for both languages (soundwise). Tell me how you pronouce "am" in vietnamese. How does it different from your em?

Oh, I see. sorry, I misunderstood.
Vietnamese: 'em' English pronounciation: 'am' (albeit, more drawled out and the 'a' is more defined)
Vietnamese: 'am' English pronounciation: 'um'/'arm'
it's not exactly accurate since obviously the only way to demostrate is by verbally saying it, but it'll suffice enough.

lol. that is genuine.
anyways, most of the translations here are too literal and do not actually sound natural in a relationship between good friends
something more like this will avoid awkward formalities:
chào anh, giờ này anh sao? hy vọng anh cũng khẻo mạnh. anh có biết em mừng lắm khi được anh làm bạn?
cho em làm người tri âm của anh đi - hihi? (add cute giggle here - no jk)
literally it means:
hello (guy), how are you these days. hope that you are doing well. do you know that i am very happy to have to as a friend.
wont you let me be your soul mate?
dont take the literal translation out of context (as it does sound weird in english), because there are certain cultural influences with each language. usage of angel isnt very romantic or common in vietnamese amongst normal language, though it does appear in lyrical music.

haha iono but this last one doesn't sound right
The first one seems good...the second one is ehhhhhhhh...please, viet people in here...let's be polite...don't make me shamed of viet.
vietnamese people like yourself makes me ashame to be vietnamese.

Why are you ashame?
She said " Em làm tiên cho anh được không ? " means "can I be your angel ?"
What's so ashame about that ?
i was being sarcastic. i do not like people like her, who's so quick in saying 'i'm ashame to be vietnamese' base on what one person of the same ethnicity says. not everyone is perfect but if you're so quick to be ashamed of your own ethnicity each time someone says something not in your liking only shows that you have an inferiority complex about yourself and your people.
