And i'll list them, from what i know accordingly southward from Northern direction: San Francisco, San Jose, Los Angeles, San Gabriel, Orange County, and San Diego. And other states, i don't know that much.



i think vietnamese society is an open society where there aren't any rules prohibiting outside marriages or any pressures for both men and women to marry people within their own ethnicity. as the result, interacial marriages are are quiet common in the U.S.

however, in vietnam, i think it will be quite hard to find interacial marriages, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't happen at all. it is just that the population's ratio between vietnamese in vietnam and foreigner who stay there is too disproportionate to account for anything.



I race as far i am concern, for vietnamese, doesn't play an important role when it come to choosing a mate. i know people that married black, white, and hispanic, and their family seem to be cool with it.

Now there are a lot of vietnamese women are open to western men for marriage. In some dating sites some of them explicitely mention that they want white men. Regarding her family I think it all depends on her family point of view though, if they are traditional it then is gonna tough. You have to show them that you love their daughter no matter what. Probably depends upon the family. For example, in my overseas family, I am the eldest brother. Will my little brother and my little sister ask me for permission before they marry anyone? HELL, NO!!! I could threaten to commit suicide, but then they would see me as an obstacle that's conveniently removing itself out of the way of true love, so I won't give them the satisfaction: when your best shot is a blank, don't shoot.

I doubt that most Vietnamese in the overseas communities in the West will go berserk if their sons and daughters marry the locals, although some of them will play the blame game: "We told the kids to treat others like human beings, and the ungrateful little bastards took us at our word. In my opinion and from my observations:

Comparing to some of the other Asian countries, Vietnamese are open when it comes to marrying a foreigner. My parents have no problem with me if I marry a caucasian guy.

1 in 3 ethnic Hoa in Vietnam intermarries with ethnic Kinh. That means there aren't alot of full-blooded Hoa left in Vietnam.

From the response for my previous post about "distinct Northern Vietnamese look", i actually did some more research. And my conclusion is Vietnamese are quite heavily mixed with Chinese. (they found many Hans tombs in North Vietnam, and also the description of the original Viets, the amount of applications from Hans to settle in the Red River Delta, etc). I think that mixing mentality is still valid to a degree.

Of course, Vietnamese family usually prefer what is best for their children in terms of future prospect. Just remember that and you'll be able to find an appropriate answer to the inter racial marriage question.

I thought when I found this site a few months back I would find out more about my background. Since I live in a town where's it 100% whiteys. I am not exposed to Vietnamese cutlure.

More importantly to me I want my kids to learn their daddy's, in esence their background as well.

I've made a hard effort to read many books on Vietnam I can get my hands on. And have learned greatly from the eyes of the white man(authors)

There were times in those book that talks about the plight of the Vietnamese since Communism took over that pertains to the fact that those were the Vietnamese who were rich and working for his white masters( french , american) to oppress the majority of the Vietnamese population.

I'll admit my family are catholic and my grand parents were the oppressor of the people. A couple of years back I had my ex to meet the family.
