2. Not only people in North Vietnam supported the Nationalist Views of Ho Chi Minh, but many Southerns joined the Viet Minh, including my Uncle and Grandfather, fought with the Viet Minh under the leadership of Ho Chi Minh and General Giap.

When the Viet Minh defeated the French at Dien Bien Phu, many Vietnamese than began to learn more about the indoctrination and the political views of the Viet Minh was more Commuist than Nationalistic.

Many Vietnamese from the North and the South left the Viet Minh, because of their Communist doctrine, including my Uncle and Grandfather who returned back to My Tho, Southern Vietnam.

There were two branch in the Vietnamese who fought at Dien Bien Phu: nationalist and communist. In the past when I've argued about Dien Bien Phu with the communists, they denied such a thing exist (they claimed the victory all for themselves). In that battle nationalist and communist forces joined together to drive out the French. In the end the Viet Minh purged those who were not communists and many nationalists left (your own grandfather and father's story provides empirical evidence). Vietnam Quoc Dan Danh...(I slaugthered the spelling) but anyone heard of it. They were nationalists who fought along side the Viet Minh at Dien Bien Phu against the French, but they were later betrayed and completely wiped out by the communists.

This echoes the Chinese experience. Under Sun Yat-sen, communists and nationalist united under the Kumingtang to drive out the Japanese and imperial powers. When that was accomplished they turned against each other and split, communists leaving the Kumingtang and led by Mao, while the Kumingtang came under the control of Chang-Kai-Shek.

Dien Bien Phu, I shut that topic down long ago over at vietmedia. All the simple and undeniable truth about DBP was explained by me long ago. Everyone over there is very clear about it and no one even mentions it now.
