lol I just ate at Bo Ky today. I know the owners. Their prices went up.. AGAIN. damn it's getting mad expensive there now.
Shiet.. I'm down for Dim Sum. I think the place right above canal st and mott is good. Harmony Palace i think it's called.
Where in NY are you located at Phoenix? There are more and more NY members now woo hoo!

Are you serious? Bo Ky raised their prices? I know the owners too but not personally. It's because I eat there too often so they know me.
I'm in Queens, like 20 minutes away from Flushing? You?

Yeah when i went there today, they told me. I know the owners pretty well, since my parents have a store on mulberry st and they shop there often. Shameless plug in: Stop by the store sometimes and I'll hook you up with discounts.

My noodles cost me 5.75 normally, but now it's $6.75! damn. How often do you eat at bo ky? much be a lot for them to know you lol.

Depends what is the favorite dish:
If it is japanese sushi may be hasaki in the village near Cooper Union
If it is a drinking place then the second floor near sunrise market in the village
Now if you like brazilian joints then cafeteria in the union square is quite a catch with great caipirinhas....wow cool stuff
If you like oysters then river cafe in the union square is pretty good but you will pay a good 200 bucks for good meal for two including some good prosecco...
If you like korean dishes then plenty to do in the 32nd st district.
What a mecca NYC is for food lovers...

huge lurker here, but can't resist adding my own list. I have lived in Little Italy, Morningside Heights, Brooklyn 8th Ave and love to eat in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, now I am in the Asian restaurant purgatory of Staten Island.......
Japanese - in the Village, there's Tomoe on Sullivan with their 2 hour wait, Marumi on University Place, Shiraku on 3rd and Stuy Sq, Yama in West Village (Carmine St b/w Bleeker and Bedford).
Vietnamese - most pho places are consistent (bang, bac) but I do have to tip my hat to Nha Trang on Mulberry b/w Bayard and Canal and Pho Pasteur on Baxter between Bayard and Canal. They seem to be just a slight notch above the rest.
Thai - Wondee Siam on 53rd and 9th, Sripraphai on 65th St and 39th Ave in Woodside. Both are authentic and come highly recommended by my Thai friends. Takrai on Broadway and Woodside is ok too.
Korean - Picnic Garden is all you can eat on 149th and Northern Blvd.... can stuff your face for ~$25. Quantity over quality there. If it's a meal, I hit KumGangSan on 32nd or Northern Blvd.
Buffet - Minado's on 32nd has been renamed to Todai's. Same concept, lots of food......
Other than Ihawan with their weird hours, I haven't been to a decent Filipino restaurant. Anyone help with this?
If you want a bit of change, check out Chinese Mirch on 28th & Lex. It's Chinese food cooked with Indian spices. A very nice twist.
Do we have to just limit to Asian food?
I love the grilled pork chops and grilled corn at Cafe Habana on Prince and Elizabeth. The Brazilian churrascarias are scary if you just want meat and meat and meat. Greenfield's on Northern Blvd in Corona is a good option. Jackson Hole burgers are making me hungry now and I just had dinner...There is a famous soul food place up in Harlem - Sylvia's on Lenox Ave. I haven't been there, but I heard that it's great. BBQ places - Hill Country just opened on 26th and 6th Ave. Best Texas BBQ in the city. Concept is kind of like Katz where you get a meal ticket and walk around picking up your food. Brisket is nice and moist, Ribs are tasty, and Sausages are pops in your mouth as you bite on it...... Virgil's BBQ in the middle of Times Square has good
This should get you all scheduled for the next few months trying them out. Looking forward to everyone's contributions.
welcome to the forum nasheng. That's a very nice detailed list. I'll be sure to add more to this list soon.

It use to be BBQ's...lol. Since their proportions of food is so big, I can never finish & it's always crowded but then again the one I go to is in a tourist spot.
I don't really know any cool places like that unless you count McDonald's...

I just went to Sylvia's 2 weeks ago. It's up in Harlem. It's not bad but it's not great. Lately I've been having friends that came to visit NYC & they always asked me if I ever went to Sylvia's. Well, I finally checked it out. I think it's worth trying. Just don't waste your time on their BBQ ribs
I'm looking for a good noodle place. Any recommendation?

Did I miss this thread?
I have so many favorite places to eat. I don't know what food category to begin with. NY has so much good food.
As for the Lower East Side, I don't really go there too much. Too out of the way for me.
I do know that the Yakitori bar on 57th street is really good for yakitori and a lot of sake though. You can eat meat and drink.

2 It's popular, so it's best to reserve beforehand. The takowasa octopus tastes really good with sake. I recommend that if you aren't afraid of the way it looks.
