It seems you aint got any basic macro or something. There's different between prediction and blind guess. In this case, you are blind guessing thing. Blind guess does not involve any brain where are prediction involves using brain to analysis the case. Low intelligent human tends to favor blind guess and pray for god.

Exports to US shoot up
http://english.vovnews.vn/Home/Exports-to-...0116/127748.vov
Vietnam earned more than US$6.15 billion from exports of goods to the US in the first five months of the year, an increase of 22.5 percent over the same period last year.
In a freshly released report, the General Department of Vietnam Customs said that the US remained to be Vietnam’s largest market, accounting for 17.7 percent of its total export turnover.

The five-month export value also saw Vietnam surpass the Philippines and Indonesia on the list of ASEAN exporters to the US.
Vietnam also caught up with Malaysia, which is regarded as now the leading ASEAN country in exports to the US.

Vietnam shipped garment and textiles, woodworks, footwear, seafood, cashew nuts and machinery to the US. Of these, garment and textiles continued to gain the highest value with over US$2.55 billion in the first five months of the year, a year-on-year increase of 17.7 percent, making up 50 percent of the country’s garment and textiles exports turnover. Next came footwear with an export value of US$714 million, making up over 30 percent of total footwear export turnover.
The US was the largest importer of Vietnamese handbags, wallets and suitcases, spending US$180 million on the products in five months of the year, an increase of 44 percent.
In the reviewed period, Vietnam imported US$1.77 billion of goods from the US, an increase of 26 percent over the same period last year.

As a result, Vietnam had a trade surplus of US$4.34 billion to the US , an increase of 21 percent.
The US Commerce Association forecast that Vietnam is capable of leading ASEAN in exports to the US in 2011.

this is serious matter. if vietnam experiences consecutive years of 25%+ inflation, it can trigger hyperinflation.

i see the deep root in inflation is vietnam economy lacks comparative advantage in export-driven model as evidenced by its 2nd biggest trading partner, china, yet receiving trade deficit with a depreciating dong currency.

if i'm the current govt, i would employ quantitative credit restriction, which continue to push credit and interest rate hike, control black market exchange, and create a better incentive working environment to attract FDI. forget about BOP. restrictive measure to reduce import is a bad bad mistake. you can't do that during inflationary period. focus on area where vietnam has an advantage like agriculture and raw material resources. use those to drive export up under mercantilist's model. everyone needs to be protectionist to develop.

easier say than done...vietnam doesn't have the financial resources, and the currency is totally useless. that's why it's better for vietnam to seek economic cooperation with china. as funny as it is, the percentage of china FDI in vietnam is extremely small (1%). this is not going to get it done when china is the rising economic power while vietnam is totally failing behind southeast asian countries, even african countries in receiving FDI from china. the vietnamese govt needs to play this game carefully because i do feel they're using this anti-china dispute to strengthen its political grip. it's a double-edge sword if they don't monitor the situation carefully.

^unlikely to affect china. vietnam is not even a major china's trade partner despite rising economic bilateral tie.

^ how did the US get out of the great depression? kiss.gif
fireplant
^ by atomic bombing Japan. I suggest Vietnam follow suit!
InitialDJay
don't go there buddy, war won't solve your country fate. there is a vast difference in the US 1930s to 1940s that led them out of the depression through heavy production of weaponry, steel, and railroad construction. the most thing is that the US is already an advance country at mass production.

vietnam is relatively weak in this department. a crash in the economy would lead to long-term economic consequence.
