My husband and I are trying to think outside the box for our bub's names. We're going to have one Sri Lankan middle name, and one Vietnamese middle name, as a tribute to our cultural backgrounds. Problem is, we don't want any names that sound Sri Lankan or Vietnamese, so traditional names are out.
The other problem is that my Vietnamese isn't very good (for all intents and purposes, I'm "Aussie-as, mate" - being born in Australia and all), so trying to come up with name ideas has been a real struggle. I was told bub is a boy, but I'm not entirely convinced, so we're thinking of names for a boy and a girl just in case.
I had a bit of a light-bulb moment, and wanted to know what people think of this "name" for a boy: An Toàn
It sort of sounds like Antoine, which isn't exactly an Anglicised name, but you know what I mean...
If bub is a girl, I think I'll settle with Quynh, which sounds close enough to Quinn.
Also, if you're Viet or have a better grasp of the Viet language than I do, please send me your suggestions for Vietnamese words that sound like English names.
Thanks!
