It's sad that a lot of Vietnamese here are so pro-American considering that they bombed our imperial city and only a handful of buildings are left and the size of the imperial city is a small fraction of what it was.

Sad that Viet-Ams blame the Hue Massacres on the Vietcong when in reality the massacre was committed by Americans who then lied that it was the Vietcong that did it, and the South Vietnamese government helped them as well.

I personally believe admiring any race other than your own too much is not good. Yes I may sound like a hypocrite for having mostly white friends, but I still believe admiring a race is not good for the mind. What I mean by that is, you shouldn't admire a race too much where you feel insecure about your own, everyone has the right to be proud of their own heritage. It is still fine to admire other races but just make sure you give yourself some credit as well.

Most of the Vietnamese I know have extreme pride for their people. They have a negative view towards white people and constantly talk sh1t about them.

Here's an example:

My friends were visiting Vietnam. There was a cocky white boy amongst their group, not in a racist "I'm white so nyah" sense, but, just cocky like any young-blood.

So, they were sitting in a cafe in Saigon and the idiot starts shooting a laser pointer at the waitresses t!t$ and @$$. The others told him to stop, but, by then he'd already raised the attention of the patrons in the joint.

Now, unbeknownst to them. The waitresses girlfriend was a Viet-American dude, who I'm sure, had all the experience he needed about haoles and their arrogant ways. So, as they were leaving, it was dark out, then suddenly a group of moped bikes turned on shining directly at them. Next thing you know, about 4 guys jump and pummel the living fu-k outta the haole boy. Not ONE of the Asian guys with him were touched...they only directed their anger at the perpetrating haole boy.

From what I'm told the Viets in Vietnam are bigger @$$-kissers (tourism dollars) than the Viet-Americans, cuz, we're savvy as to what they're up to.

30 years ago wasn't that long ago, not to mention they helped support the Khmer Rouge a genocidal regime where Vietnam fought them and America kept them in the UN which was about 20 years ago.

Every Asian ethic group has those kind of ppl who worship the whites, but for most Vietnamese I don't think they admire white ppl as much as others like the Japanese .Vietnamese also have close-tight communities and are less likely to marry out of their ethic group compared to others as well.

I think Thailand peeps admire white pple the most. When i was visiting in Asia, I stopped in Malysian(sorry for the spelling) for a month and it was boring there. So my uncle decided to go Thailand for a week. Omg White pple there were like royalty. There were old white men sitting with the thailand women. But the women were ugly and old. The right path for America and Vietnam is that of Germany and Israel, that of reconciliation and healing, but responsibilities should reside with the conscience of Americans alone. Entirely agreed with you, there could not be forgiveness without justice. All protagonists of the war should undergo investigation upon their responsabilities in war atrocities. I think you misunderstood me. It wasn't a demand for offical procedures. I don't want there to be investigations and tribunals. What I want to see is survivors sit down and talk, hear each other stories, maybe share each others pain, and decide - and I hope they decide to drink and get drunk over it. There should not be bearer of responsibilities except in the conscience of individuals alone.

I had the same experience, my friend invited me to his house. He told his parents that I was Cambodian, and I was getting bad vibes from his parents.

The funny thing about this is that my "friend" hangs around drug dealers and is in gangs. He is in his 20's and is a high school drop out with no future at all. I haven't talked to him after this incident, I don't think he had a clue of what was going on. I mean they accepted his drug dealing/gangsters friends but when it comes to a Cambodian, its a different story.

I don't think they realise that i attended the top uni in the country and what a good influence i was to him (told him to finish high school and stuff). But oh well, life goes on. I'm no longer his friends after so many years.....
