A little off topic but would it be dangerous to travel to Vietnam (particularly the north) if they find out your father fought against the Communist Vietnamese and you're not Vietnamese?
If you don't say, how would anyone find out?
And even if you say, why would anyone believe you? :-)
The answer is no, you can relax, nobody really cares what your father did (no offense). Just go and spend your money and you should be fine.

Is it dangerous to travel to VN now bc of the jp nuclear reactor incident?
Yes it is. You see Vietnam shares the same ocean as Japan (Pacific Ocean), so traveling to VN is just as dangerous as traveling to other Pacifica-rimmed countries like Chile or USA or Fiji. I think you'll be safer going to a landlocked country like Laos, or better still, Belarussia. From what I heard Belarussia is also very pretty this time of year.
