No doubt since Vietnam's military was the 4th largest in the mid 1980s but the trouble with invading Canada is getting the troops there as well as Canada as the U.S to protect them as well. After the cold war Vietnam scaled down it's military and concentrated on defensive purposes instead of power projection before the end of the cold war.
vietnam doesn't have a blue water navy; so protecting nearby islands would still be the best that it could do. while canadian ships and troops have been deployed far away from home, in different climates, since ww1.
lol...let just say canadian troops are of similar quality to us troops, and we know us troops did not do jungle very well against the vietcong. but on the other hand, viet troops will probably drop their guns and freeze themselves to death in canada; not to mention the combination of us/canadian navies and air forces will eat not only viet ships but also everyone else's for lunch before they can even dream of reaching this coast of the atlantic. but then, things will work differently on vietnamese soil as proven in the past.

Su-27 flankers are nice but Vietnam just got some new Su-30 MK2s delivered.

^err no Canada is not debt free, and yea its protected and somewhat dictated by the USA... in 1985 the debt was about 380 billion , I don't know what it's now but most likely much higher 
Oh and back on topic, I think the original poster wanted pictures of Vietnamese U.S troops in Iraq. Not pictures of Vietnamese soldiers in Vietnam.

i was just figuratively pointing out the importance of the native environment in warfare, as demonstrated throughout history (germans in russia, mongols in vietnam, etc). And it is, of course, most likely that the hypothesis we're discussing won't ever happen. i do love canada!

For some reason I thought the same as Byron.
Canada's army is fairly advance, more so than Vietnam's. The soldier quality is alot better also their equipment, cadpat, Diemco c7, stryker's, et. There are canadian soldiers in Irak and Afghanistan, in fact canadian snipers in afghanistan took the record for the longest sniper kill, they killed a taliban fighter from over two miles away with just two shots fired.
