i think our team has to be very careful. we didn't play well against singapore at all (funny that most singaporeans at home bet against their team and ended up losing lots of money since singapore was able to draw with vietnam). 9 goals against cambodia is nothing new; and our defense was still sloppy enough to have one goal passed through. vietnam's team should not be too proud about this result against cambodia and has its guards loosen up. we have to get our act together even more and play our very best against anyone.

He is Pham Van Quyen :-) His form is currently not good, but he has the ability to change the matches.

Indonesia was just a better team yesterday. It was balanced, cohesive and strong on defense. Indonesian players are also bigger and better conditioned.

Most of Vietnam's attacks were not successful because they lack imagination and did not create any surprise to the more-than-ready men of Peter Wirth.

The loss is not Tavares' fault. LDBD of Vietnam should let him do his job instead of micromanaging him to death like they have done to all his predecessors.

ok i didnt c any of Vietnam matchs but i been keeping score of all their match for long time now.
i dont know much about our defence but we got some pretty good attacking player
like Le Cong Ving, Phan Van Tai Em, Thach Bao Khanh, and Pham Van Quyen.
those are the top score in both the tiger cup and the 2006 quilerfier.
but our defence keep on chancing in the tiger cup pluse Le Huynh Duc is pretty good but he age is getting to him plus the younger kid is just as good as him and with their younth they can get even better.
btw how is our goalkeeper he is just as old as Le Huynh Duc.
and i dont know about our coach but we were winning in the 2006 quilerfier until he came in the picture.

Just so you know, Cong Vinh and Bao Khanh actually had many chances yesterday but couldn't connect. PVTE was totally ineffective. Must be an off-game for him.

Also Huynh Duc announced that this would be his last game. He is retiring.

He is pretty good but his career was marred by scandals of game-fixing and illegal kick back money. It is amazing that Tavares actually picked him to be the captain of Vietnam National Team.

I wish Bao Khanh had the finesse of Cong Vinh and Cong Vinh the strength and stamina of Bao Khanh.

Then you need to convince the LDBD of Vietnam of that. They are the only people in the world who think defensive players don't need to be big, strong and intimidating to the strikers of the other team. That's the reason why we don't see physical players in the Vietnam National Team. Half of the VNT players fall down when lightly touched by other players in the second half of a match. Tavares shouldn't be fired. The entire LDBD of Vietnam needs be to reorganized and those who stick with this philosophy ought to have their heads examined.

Soccer is not only a game of finesse but of fitness and size as well.

man my club ball coach think like that and when his player got to high school they were all freak out that they can get tackle(hard) and half of the player didnt make the team.

Casset didn't make the team and was sent home last month after playing a couple of games in the V-league. In public, the rejection was made because Casset didn't impress Tavares with his skills but I am sure there is more to this than just that simple explanation.

The LDBD of Vietnam probably didn't appreciate the comment from the Ministry of Culture and Sports a few months ago which stated that the Vietnam National Team would accept players with Vietnamese ancestry from anywhere around the world. My guess is the LDBD is an organization full of graft, fraud and corruption. It doesn't like to share anything with anybody and it is used to that practice. Such an organization also doesn't want to be dictated on how to run its own business, but it was too late and there is no way to retract that statement from the Minister of Culture and Sports. So Casset was sent home with a thank-you note and Viet Nguyen of the Seattle Sounders never got invited.

i thought he didn't arrange a solid defense for the team, especially when the opponents counterattacked with long balls (strikers were too far away to run back). however you're right that the politicians micromanaged him too dead. tavares has said that the LDBD has no long-term plan to progressively develope a better national team. to them, it's either win or no more contract.

So sad that the team is falling apart. I had high hope that Vietnam will win the Tiger Cup this year and now it looks like they won't even make the top 4.
