You seem to know alot about Vietnamese and Chinese history. Can you tell me why Cantonese call themself Yue which has the same pronouciation for Viet in Chinese.
From what i have read and learned, there were probably many migrations from the 100 yuets clans down to the red river delta in the past, the yuet that were left behind in the QuangDong area were assimilated into the Han's Empire, while the Yuets clan ran off to Northern Vietnam and probably mixed with the local people who were probably of Austronesion's background, this mixture produce what you call the modern yuet, who by
now have such a national identity which was why they dont want to be part of the Chinese Empire
