yea...there called banh mi...
u can buy em jus as they r or sum viet shops can fill em 4 u wif
- butter/pate` at da bottom
- meat (depend on ur choices)
- cucumber n green herbs (optional)
- chilli (optional)

heyy.. how come i've never come across these banh mi where u fill them up?? i've never seen it in any viet shop

Not necessarily... a vietnamese deli should carry it...... usually it is made fresh......
also what is that stuff where like these white balls are in some kind of alcholic liquid with little clear bubble-like things in them?
is this that thing with the rice balls in alcohol that gives out like a bitter taste???

Yeah that... usually they sell them in the same store as viet bread, if the rice balls arent premade to sell in a supermarket

it's called com-rou ( literally means wine-rice) i think.. My family makes it all the time... they shape sweet rice or some kind of rice with a little bit of flour to small balls . Then they put some kind of fermentation or whatever that looks like flour too. then they put it into a pot with banana leaves cover around, and wait for weeks, until the ruo(wine) is produce. I forgot if they actually put water in there first o__O
