Just out of curiousity. Who attended a Vietnamese school in their country that they were born in. Outside Vietnam of course.
For example, I was born in Brisbane Australia, and my parents sent me through Vietnamese schooling once a week on Saturdays. For about 3 hours that is. Or was it 4?
Anyways, we just studied how to read, write, and history. My school had lunch time and also uniforms too. So it was pretty interesting.
How about you guys?

This would be a good idea to have the Vietnamese school in other countries. Recently i got an offer to become a Vietnamese teacher, teach little kids how to write, read, and speak Vietnamese. I'm going to do it, but not this year, next year after i finish my school, i'll get involve more, keep our roots and tradition ever lasting.

All Viet parents should learn from your parents about this.

and dude the things they learn in math school is like so freakin hard

Only when you start becoming older, i found that i wanted to know more about my culture and stuff like that

I hope you enjoy it and benefit it , because I used to be a teacher in a Vietnamese community association, parents just dropped off their children at the school on saturday afternoon,went shoppping around then came take their children back 3 or 4 hours laters. I was were dissappointed about parents' attitude because they considered as baby sitters, watching their children while they are out for shopping, they didn't care about what their children learn and never helped them learn Vietnamese at home and do homeworks. Some considered "Kiê'm hiê.p" videos as vietnamese learning media. Do you remember that scrappy uncorrect Vietnamese spoken is Chinese made "Kiê'm hiê.p" soap opera ?

My parents wanted to but nothing like that around here to go to.

i went to a temple when i was little... it was a school and temple.. we go to school.. then go pray for like 5 minutes.. then go learn vietnamese, and then lunch,, then play at a park nearby, and get picked up...
school was about only 3 hours.. there were like class a b c and stuff for i guess to seperate beginners and intermediate, i only went for a few months.. but they were starting to not have enough money so we had to fun raise.. we still didnt make enough.. so we had to start paying about 20 bucks a month... but my sister got a new job and couldnt take me anymore.. so now.. im bad at vietnamese lol...

I went through Vietnamese schooling for a good 8 years. I must admit, I didn't particularly enjoyed it, however I can see how much I benefitted from it now.

My Japanese friend told me he can't understand why I can't speak, read and write my own mother's language properly. Which I realise isn't something to be proud of. You get those Vietnamese kids that think it's uncool because you look like a "FOB".

The Vietnamese school that I attended had around 100 students with grades from 1 all the way to 6. We had to pay a fee for each year we studied there. The teachers didn't make anything out of it. Only their transport was paid for.

Well, I'm gonna make sure my children in the future attend Vietnamese school for sure. I hope you guys think the same.

My Vietnamese teacher was a scholar in Vietnam before 1975. She's tough.

May I know who taugh you this anticomunist attitude ? We Viet seem more united abroad but do we have this closely wowen social fabrics as jews do ? You shoul know it best since you are from New York, the largest jewish city on earth ?
