Ok first off, don't take this topic too seriously. I don't know what it is like to wave the national flag in Vietnam either, especially in the Saigon/HCM city. But lets just say if you had to. What do you think would happen to you?

As for me, I was gonna choose the option, "Some people will approach you and say "D* Ma May" angryly" but I figured since all the cops are nationalist and pro-communist (Not all) they would provide some protection. Hahaha. embarassedlaugh.gif
So I choose "By-standers would ignore you or give you death stares". icon_redface.gif

National flag? You mean the old South Vietnam flag? I think everyone will stare at you and ignore you. Vietnam has about 30 million young men and women that were born after the war, I don't think they'd give a crap about the old flag at all. Personally, I'd be embassed to wave that flag nowaday.

i wouldnt even if u was born afta the war still though u gotta learn about our freakin history gz GO SOUTH boo NORTH no offence if u was born in north though

Why would you be embarrassed to wave that flag? I actually prefer it over the red one because it's original and has a deeper meaning...it's not a copy of the Chinese communist flag.

As far as I know, the yellow flag signifies our yellow skin and the three red stripes stands for the three regions (North, Central and South)...the stripes are red because it means we're all the same blood..we're all Vietnamese. I love it...it's so cool!

I don't know about HCMC but here waving the one star flag will get my @$$ beat my house burned and officially labeled not a true Viet anymore lol.

hihihi good called chosenone, neither here or there accepted each other flag, if waving an old flag over there, i will dissapear too. The thing i don't understand is why don't they accept the fact that what haven been done is already done, why don't they look at the future for the new generation and forget the past, if the history repeat it itself, then our children will hate our own people guts, but whatever it is, seemed like we, the new younger generation have a tough time to deal with these kind of thing, we dont know which one is which, ain't we all VNamese? I find it is funny when the singers came from VN to US to performed, then gagles of them peepz protested and shiet, but then they find their way back to VN, is that selffish or watz???

ddha, I think you should learn where that yellow flag with three red stripes originated from. The French patronized Vietnamese with that flag. It was never Vietnamese, it was from the French after they colonized our land.
Dividing a country into three regions is easier to conquer then a whole country as one. Basic military strategy.

As with the National flag, I was asking for everyone's opinion on the current Red flag with the yellow star in the centre. Sorry, I should have made that clear from the start. Sorry for those who already voted under a different assumption. My bad.

o what... yea you shoulda made that clear!

Oh really?! eek.gif

I always thought it was our own flag. Well, the red one isn't our own either...it looks like an imitation of the China flag. Maybe the new generation of Viets should create a new flag that we could all agree on...forget the other two...wouldn't that be a good idea? biggrin.gif

Good idea, I say we make our own. As long as it has a little bit of red in it. Red's lucky in our culture right? icon_wink.gif

That could possibly happen, nothing worse than anger, if people waves rad flag and yellow star around here, i think they better call 911 before they do it. heehehe people around here will rasiing war for sure. (same as the guy in CA that the other thread discussed). Not a best idea when they know the rules and still breaking the rules, that's how they get their @$$ get beat up.

Gee, it's only the old people who would do the beating up I reckon. Most of us younger generation believe more in the unity of our people. Having racism within our own people.
In Australia, it's not so bad. No one really cares, apart from the old death stare here and there. There's even a Vietnamese school set up by the community which raises the current Vietnamese national flag.
