In VN, everyone knows that officialdom pays peanuts in term of salaries. However, they are lucrative positions that people actually step on each other's head to have for reasons I don't need to list here because they are all well known. The top managerial positions in the People's Committee generate unimaginable wealth for its office-holders, and now they want to decorate their desks with academic tittles to be like "everyone else"? What's a bunch of opportunistic buffoons!

they others always complain that Viet Congs are uneducated and that only a few hold doctor titles. having only a bachelor degress the others complain, instead for appreciation the people for being on a way of having higher educational title the others still find a way to complain. Why do you think academic title will make a lousy manager a good one??? These people are so wealthy that they won't need to sweat themselves in some stuffy halls listening to some profs. talking about subjects they won't give a sh*t about. If needed, they would purchase an academic title and wear it the way women would wear their best trendy outfits. 1700 officials at the top managerial positions in the Capital, only 50 of them have the advance degrees, probably granted by the Nguyen Ai Quoc Academy for their knowleges regarding the Party's ways of life. Little wonder Hanoi is the way it is now.

Because degrees are worthless in Vietnam. They can be bought and sold.
