Hi guys, here's 6 multiple choices. I'm conducting this survey to write an historical essay and I'm myself politically neutral. Please be free to express your opinion and don't forget to state your nationality. Thanks for your opinion and every opinion counts! icon_smile.gif

e)More accurate speaking, my opinion is...

2. Have you heard about the Nanking massacre 1937? (yes/no)

3. What do you think about the 3,000,000 killing? (Chinese government claim)
a) Number’s been exaggerated.
b) I don’t think it ever happened
c) That’s about the right number as Nanking was populated.
d) I have no idea with numbers

4. What do you think about the Japanese aggression in China?
a) japan invaded china, commited incredible horrific war crimes in the past;

f)My opinion is none of above, it is....

6. What do you think about the Japanese ultimate aim over its colonization East?

2. Yes
3. a) number has been exaggerated by YOU. According to China, the number of casaulties in Nanjing 1937 was 300,000, not 3 million.
4. a
5. f , it was awful, but it's just one of the many atrocities committed by Japanese military and government.
6. c. According to Japanese prime minister

I think this survey is extremely biased, but whatever.

1. I reckon the Japanese are just like any other race. Although I believe most of the population are more white-washed and somewhat materialistic than any other Asian nation. But then again that's the consequence for living under the all-conquering American yolk.

2. Of course. What I can't believe is why you even asked this question anyway. Anybody who denies the existence of this atrocity is a blatant revisionist. The only thing that can ever be debatable about the incident is the scale of damage.

3. That 3,000,000 is exaggerated. Even Western historians tend to agree that the 300,000 number is a better estimation.

4. The Japanese military and ruling elite were just like the Nazis - fanatical, militaristic and had no concept for being reasonable and peaceful. Most were no better than insane murderers. It still astounds me that a significant portion haven't been appropriately punished.

5. It was one of the darkest chapter in both country's history. Many innocent lives were lost and unfortunately, the failure of the Japanese to properly atone for such sins have adversely affected what could've been a positive relationship for both countries.

6. The Japanese believed they were the master race of the Asian continent. Non-Japanese were looked down on as second-class citizens. I guess it's not surprising, since Japan was the only Asian country to have successfully modernised and have herself recognised (and respected) as a world power by most Western nations. I think it was because of that success, the Japanese became far too arrogant. The 'East-Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere' is a testimony to having too much self-confidence. Thankfully the Asians were saved from further Japanese aggression by the firepower of the U.S. What surprises me now is how many Asians continue to put down the U.S., obviously having forgotten that the Americans were the ones who had ultimately saved us from being under Japanese control.

I don't hate the Japanese. That's the nationalists' and extremists' job. However, I do believe they are more responsible to mend the relationship between both countries. All that most people ask for is an apology, compensation and recognition of the atrocities. Once that is done to satisfaction, there is no real excuse for nationalists to vent their hate and use Japan's past as a veiled excuse for their racism. It's a pity that Japan is still governed by narrow-minded, senile, white-washed right-wingers who still can't see why not giving a sincere apology will hurt Japan's future. China is rising - fast - and Japan had better hope they'd get a mature and responsible leader soon or else there'd be a lot more conflicts in the future.

I'm Chinese, by the way. Although I've been raised up in Canada along with many other nationalities. I harbor no hate towards the Japanese of today. What has happened, has happened, and it's simply all part of the past now. However, I would still like an official apology coming from the Japanese, which would patch up the relations between these two countries greatly.

1. General impression on Japan
they are people just like any other country's people. I'm sure there are both agressive Japanese and peaceful Japanese. I don't like to paint a whole country with one broad brush.
2. Have you heard about the Nanking massacre 1937?
Yes, but we weren't taught about it at my school. I had to do outside school research on it. In fact, if you survey my school 90% wouldn't know what you are talking about.
3. What do you think about the 3,000,000 killing?
I haven't done enough research on this topic to give an objective answer.
4. What do you think about the Japanese aggression in China?
a) japan invaded china, commited incredible horrific war crimes in the past;
5. How do you look at the Nanking massacre 1937?

a) Gain more power over the East, building a Japanese empire.

I think it is necessary that Japan acknoledge the Nanking Massacre and other crimes of war they did in China as well as the rest of Asia. I also feel a formal apology is needed in order to start a relationship between China and Japan that isn't like a ticking time bomb. But I do not judge the Japanese today based on their ancestor's actions. I agree with the person that said it was dark period for both country and now that it's in the past, we should not dwell upon it to unnecessary extremes.
"I am not an Athenian, I am not a Greek ,I am a citizen of the world"-Socrates. It would help alot if we can all open our minds and see the bigger picture.

I dont deal with them to much myself so wouldnt know. I don't think an apology is going to come either. and if it does im pretty sure it won't be sincere icon_confused.gif

I just like to say personally I think the japanese are a very nice bunch. Im chinese and I have met japanese people who are just polite, kind and courteous. I will admit that there are certain things we will never forget but for the most part I like them I just don't respect them for what they did to us and the rest of the world. But our time will come in a few years so Im not even gonna dwell on those issues anymore. But I think I get along with them just fine.
