I suggest Hue because it's in the middle of the country, simplifies the unification of northern and southern Vietnam. Hue also needs some boost in the economy since the Central region is pretty poor

Oh BTW, I copied Yuje's topic, so i hope he's not sueing me haha

Hanoi. Since North Vietnam is where Vietnamese came from. We didn't even move to central and South until like the 1600's.

"Hanoi": I don't like it but damn it, they won the war
"Hue": No way, too close to the sea, we will loose all the records if tsunami comes to town.
"SaiGon": good place but, no capital should be in or near a rich and large city, too vulnerable for spying.
How 'bout we move the capital to "Beijing"

Imperial City Huế all the way!
Huế is the cultural capital of Vietnam; it's the pinnacle of Vietnamese fashion, language, and cuisine. The women of Huế are, arguably, the most beautiful in all of Vietnam. The Huế accent is, arguably, the most distinct and pleasing to the ear. And the food is supposed to be the best too!

I'm against any thought of Hue becoming the capital. Hue was the capital of the most pathetic Vietnamese dynasty in hystory. No one from the North or South can understand a word of Hue.
I'm torn between Hanoi and Saigon. Hanoi has way better weather, especially in the fall. Saigon is too hot for my taste. Hanoi historically been our capital throughout our hisotry. But then on the other hand, Saigon is more populated, better ecomoic wise, better as a trading center.

Hanoi has been the capital of Vietnam for long long time. And this question is very silly. The ones say they prefer Saigon to be the capital , I am afraid these guys were mixed with some inferior race, and they are not a true Viet anymore, try to destroy our tradition. Otherwise, these people are shallow.

Yes, I suppose Khổng is a rare surname. Perhaps you're more familiar with Hỏng or Hổng? Those are variations of my surname, Khổng, which is Hung in Cantonese, and Kŏng in Mandarin (
孔); it's the surname of Confucius but, ironically, I'm a Daoist

As for Mongolian names, here's an example of such: Bogdo Zanzabar

Can someone answer dalawapo question? Hanoi means inner river, because Hanoi has river running through it, I think. Saigon means a city in the middle of the forest in Cambodian, according to some sources. What does Hue means?
By the way, I finally made up my mind and voted Saigon. Hanoi was our traditional capital, doesn't mean we can't change it. Saigon is strategically better than Hanoi. But, I just love Hanoi weather too much, Saigon is too hot and rain all the time.

You are right about Hanoi but Sai gon came from Prei Nokor, which means "cottonwood" forest (ru*ng` gon`) according to one theory. The other theory is Saigon came from bastardized Cantonese for "barrage" ("tha^`y ngan" or +de^` ngang in Vietnamese) according to Vu*o*ng Ho^ng` Se^n?
Hue^' came from Hoa (flower). Old Annamese maps gave the Chinese character "flower" for it.

The second one is close, Hue is a colliquial saying of "Hoa" in Thuan Hoa however
hoa here is vanhoa, hoahoc. The character is very close though, one is without the grass *thao radical on the top
