Hyundai Motor’s large-scale automobile ‘Genesis Coupe’ was chosen as ‘the most beautiful vehicle 2009’ by China’s renowned automobile magazine Car & Driver, Hyundai Motor disclosed on April 24.
This prize is given to best vehicles across total 12 car types based on scores tallied after assessing three factors -- aesthetic integrity, practicability, and originality -- Genesis Coupe was evaluated as the best automobile in the coupe sector.
A Car & Driver official said, “Genesis Coupe will be Hyundai Motor’s one of weapons to tap into the high-end car market,” and added, “Genesis Coupe, of which both the interior and exterior were made by Hyundai’s unique designs, boasts its particularly delicate and dynamic exterior and gives mobility through the design as well.”
Along with Genesis Coupe, Honda City and Toyota RAV4 also received the prize. The awarding ceremony was hosted on April 21, during the Shanghai Motor Show 2009, at the Shanghai World Financial Center with the participation of around 100 vehicle industry insiders and journalists.
‘The most beautiful automobile’ award is one of vehicle design awards granted by Italy’s notable design company ‘Museum’. The award marks the 16th anniversary this year in Europe, and Car & Drive and Museum co-adopted the award into China in 2007.
