John Kerry said he would cloose the loophole preventing corporations outsourcing to the Far East. Is it a bad news for Vietnam where it said ready for oursourcing?

Well, we know it is not quite. Vietnam is still years behind from capable of doing good business. The reasons are mainly because its lusk-of-cash economy but lacks of labor skills, low levels in education, dubious banking management and poor transportation structure. However, those things can be improved.

>>Lieberman, a Democrat senstor, accused John Kerry of making “protectionist statements.” “Lieberman signaled that Kerry may feel heat in the next few days by pointing to Kerry’s position on the Iraq war, to what he said was his rival’s opposition to further tax cuts and to ‘protectionist statements’ on trade.” (Dan Balz, “Debate Looms Large for Democrats,” The Washington Post, 1/22/04)

For me, I am favor in global wealth sharing. Comparing to citizens in other countries, most Americans are rich. People who lost jobs from outsourcing can get another job in America without any problem. People around the world, especially in Far East, deserve to live better life just like Americans.

If Kerry is elected, would it be a good idea for him to stop most outsoucing? Keep jobs in America and hell with the world, right? What do you think?

it's the global economy and the US have so many choices for outsourcing so I have to agree : "Vietnam is still years behind from capable of doing good business. The reasons are mainly because its lusk-of-cash economy but lacks of labor skills, low levels in education, dubious banking management and poor transportation structure, etc. "

Hello, friend icon_wink.gif Forget about any hugging from me, though - Nothing personal, it's that East Asian cultural phobia about hugging that I am still afflicted with icon_wink.gif And don't let anybody tell you that Filipinas ain't good looking icon_wink.gif

Hey there, buddy. icon_smile.gif It's understandable most Asian guys would feel uncomfortable about it.
But with Viet girls, they give me hugs all the time, and I'm gonna kick it up a notch this Christmas season and intentionally meet 'em under a mistletoe. biggrin.gif

Vietnam's entry into the WTO will mark an important milestone not only for the said country, but also for Asia. Imagine the implications it will have on neighboring countries like Thailand and Taiwan. My company is already outsourcing a lot of its production to Vietnam because the quotas are expected to disappear. You can say that Vietnam is my company's idea of a wet dream for 2007. If I remember correctly, Vietnam has the second fastest growing economy in Asia. That's pretty amazing considering the sad economic situation of the country as I left Vietnam in 1989.

Perhaps the next question is not whether Vietnam will succeed in garnering global support for receing outsourcing jobs, but will the country's infrastructure be able to deal with the new influx of foreign direct infestments?

It has been doing for many years already? Govt cannot stop any offshore countries in supplying goods to local markets, Its unheard of unless that country has bio hazard risk that can plague the natural environment also US$ effecting the popularity of consumers favoring countries who produce the best price for quality at the time.

To this day, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF) try to maintain a good relationship with other GOVs in being good and fair trading partner, but because of broken agreements between GOVs in past communication with both foreign affairs would be limited to spotlighting on repairs of Tourism,

However in my experience with importing/exporting MAF are just there to process paperwork and keep paper trails between me and offshore producers, being in my position the GOV prefers me to trade discretely and play fair in creating work for local business not supplying to end-user, my principles rely on establishing good network of partners overseas, finding a market I see has potential gains (not influenced by GOVs) within the private sector and keeping local business up to date.

There is always a loop hole, Americas Gov currently has good ties in China and considers trading with Viet, Viet do have the have the initiatives and ability to become a sourcing country but certainly up to investors to gamble into strategic game, American locals have more contacts in Viet the Gov so I don't think they can stop it.

An developed economy can not stop outsourcing easily because if it does decide to stop outsourcing, the living standard of the country will go down.

An economy grows by increase in productivity. It is not productive for USA to do the lower-skilled jobs; they better off outsource it elsewhere. Plus, they like the idea of a manager country. They can sit in USA and directs labour everywhere in the world. laugh.gif laugh.gif
