Vietnam’s world cyber warriors have wings clipped
VietNamNet – Five of the six Vietnamese gamers who entered the final round of the World Cyber Games 2004 in San Francisco have been refused entry visas by the US Embassy in Hanoi and the US General Consulate in HCM City.
According to Samsung Vina Electronics Company, knowing the difficulty in acquiring visas to the US, the company prepared the necessary documentation for gamers. However, after interviews with US authorities, five were refused entry visas.
The five jilted cyber warriors are Nguyen Manh Linh, Nguyen Le Cong from Hanoi, Le Huu Thinh, Vuong Kim Son and Tu Hoang Thach from HCM City.
The last gamer, Tran Thanh Vy, was interviewed September 29 and has yet to hear the result.
The six warriors are winners of the final round of the national cyber games, which were held in Hanoi and HCM City on August 28-29.
This is the first time the World Cyber Games was organised outside the Republic of Korea, with the attendance of gamers from 62 countries and territories.
